Despite their age-old popularity, I’ve never liked eating Cheerios cereal. But hunger is a powerful motivator. That’s why, when I was standing in a long line at Wal-Mart recently, I succumbed to my growling stomach and bought a bag of snacks. Even if I didn’t like them, my grandkids love Cheerios cereal, so I figured it wouldn’t be a wasted buy. If memory serves me, I paid $1.50 for an 8-ounce bag of Cheerios Snack Mix Cheddar Flavor at Wal-Mart. I’m told Sam’s Club also carries this food product.

The first thing I noticed about the bag of Cheerios Snack Mix Cheddar Flavor, is that its yellow color and the bold, black “Cheerios” are reminiscent of the cereal box design. The front of the bag also proclaims “Good Source of WHOLE GRAIN- Baked, Not Fried”, as well as “60% Less Fat than regular potato chips.” That sounded like a healthy snack to me.
Inside a bag of Cheerios Snack Mix Cheddar Flavor are 6 different treats: Multigrain Cheerios cereal, Wheat Chex cereal, Cheese crackers, Bread Twists, Corn Chex Cereal and Twist Pretzels. Did I mention I don’t like eating Chex Cereals either? But I do like Chex Mix. With 3 kinds of Chex Cereals in it, I assumed this snack mix was going to taste a whole lot like Chex Mix.

Taste Test and Conclusion
I was right. If you like eating Chex Mix, then you’ll like Cheerios Snack Mix Cheddar Flavor. This mix tastes like it’s seasoned the same, but with an added cheesy flavor. Even though they’re seasoned in this food product, I still don’t like the Cheerios.
I have to say too, that I find it rather odd that General Mills makes Cheerios and Chex Cereals both. I don’t understand why they would basically mix the two snacks together and turn it into yet another product.
Overall, Cheerios Snack Mix Cheddar Flavor is a healthy snack that tastes okay. But, next time, I’ll buy a bag of Chex Mix instead.
