Chasing Liberty is a film starring Mandy Moore as a girl named Ana who is also the American presidents daughter. The president is played by Mark Harmon. The film is directed by Andy Cadiff.
This film is a romatic comedy or as guys like to call it, a chick flick. I thought the film was ok, with some parts over the top. The whole daughter of the president rebelling theme I have seen in way too many films. Why can’t directors ever come up with a new stroyline? Besides the unoriginal plot, the film was ok and Many Moore acted very well in it and so did Matthew Boode.
Many Moore plays the role of the president’s daughter as the storyline goes that she can’t go anywhere without secret service with her and she can’t live a normal life of an 18 year old. Her father, the president wants to have more control on his daughter’s life while keeping her happy. When Moore tries to escape the Secret Service by duking into a bar, she meets up with Boode who plays the role of a very young CIA agent in charge of protecting Moore.
The storyline really gets off the ground when the president comes up the ridiculous idea of letting secret service back off and let his daughter live a normal life and go to Europe. But there is one catch, Mathew Boode who has become friendly with Moore must accompany her everywhere she goes under the disguise that he is just another guy in his 20s, not a CIA agent. This way the president can kno at all times where his daughter is and that she is safe.
Moore decides to head to Europe with Boode and in the process he looses track of 2 CIA agents who were supposed to follow them as they had gotten on the wrong train. In Europe Ana wants to have a romantic relationship with CIA agent Ben Calder but Calder knows that as a government agent for the president he cannot be in a relationship with Anna. However as the jounrey goes on, they fall in love with her. Calder resists her until the point when she threatens to be with another man. This prompts them to fall in love. When news reaches the president, there are reports that they have gotten married which angers him and orders his agents to find the couple and bring his daughter home.
At a parade, agent Calder explains his true identity as a CIA agents but explains he still loves her. Sobbing, Ana is in shock and unsure if she still loves Calder and she feels betrayed. As she goes back home, she is told that agent calder has moved back to England. Afterwards, Ana goes to England with her father’s blessing and gets back together with Ben Calder as the film fades into the background
