The Best Inn Santa Ana is a tad more expensive than the Motel 6 but still falls into the cheap motel category. The average room rate is $70 after taxes but they are very large rooms and there’s a swimming pool. This is a cheap motel where you can stay more than one day simply because of the pool and hot tub. If you are a couple visiting LA, this is one of the cheapest motels where you can get a jacuzzi in your room if you want. The Sunland Motel is pretty small and the rates are around $50 per night for an average sized but extremely clean room in a fairly quiet area. This is a mom and pop type of motel and everyone is very friendly. They are also lenient about check out times which is great if you have small children that don’t want to cooperate when it’s time to leave. The Royal Roman Motel is a special kind of motel that probably won’t appeal to everyone. This is the type of motel you’ll see on COPS but it does have one thing going for it. The price. During the summer the rates might pop up to $55 or so per room but in the off season they dip down to $40. This is a motel where you sleep and that’s all. Santa Ana is located between Anaheim and Irvine and is extremely close to Disneyland. If you drive from the south, when you see the Santa Ana sign, you can usually spot the Matterhorn off to your left. Santa Ana is a very populated area and you should expect typical LA traffic as you’ll be using the freeways to get to most attractions and other areas of Los Angeles. The morning and late afternoon are the worst times to be on the freeway near Santa Ana but if you have to do anything at those times, add an extra hour of travel time at the minimum.
