Alamo is one of the largest car rental companies of America. During last long weekend I rented a minivan from Alamo. Alamo gave me the best offer ever possible for those days. My husband and I were really pleased by the service and rates provide by Alamo this time. During last long weekend we were planning for a short vacation to Key West and Miami. The decision was very last moment decision. We needed a car of seven or eight passengers. We tried almost all big car rental companies in order to get a good last minute deal. Finally Alamo was the only one provider who really gave us a good deal for four days vacation.
What I realized during this vacation that most of the people don’t know Alamo provides so good deal time to time. Earlier we were more familiar with Enterprise and Budget car rental service. First we looked for Enterprise and we got the deal of $88 per day for minivan. Then we looked for Budget and we received little less costly deal of $75 per day.

Online Booking and Self Checkout- Alamo has a great service of self checkout at the Alamo car rental place. If you have already booked your car online and received the confirmation number, you can go ahead with self checkout process at Alamo counter. You need a valid driving license and a major credit card in order to complete this self checkout process. Once you complete the formalities you will be asked to choose your own car from a series of car parked at the parking lot of Alamo. I liked this feature. When I went to choose my car I saw there are at least 20 odd minivans were parked at Alamo car rental center and I choose one white Dodge Grand Caravan from them. The car was brand new with just 4000 mileage.
Deal, Discount and Coupons for Alamo – This is the best part of Alamo. Alamo has several different discount coupons and deals for its customer everyday. You just need to search the appropriate coupons and deals which suit you better. While booking car online you will be able to notice three things which determine your rates and discounts at Alamo. They are I.D. / Corp I.D., Rate/Product Code and Coupon Code. You just need to know and play around with these three things together to get the best deal for you.
Pre-pay and Save Option – I used this I.D. for my last booking with Alamo. Alamo offers 10 % to 15% discount on overall charge if you prepay the amount completely. The I.D. for this offer is PREPAYHD. Use this code in the field for I.D./Corp. I.D. This is no wise booking your car with this option while your trip is not certain, because in this case you will be charged for cancellation. If you cancelled your car reservation before 48 hours of your pick-up time, Alamo will charge $5 and after 48 hours or if your don’t take the car at all from Alamo, Alamo will charge $10 on your credit card. There are few drawbacks of this offer too. Alamo generally gives unlimited miles and free additional driver as extra bonus on your booking. If you use prepay option those offer may disappear. But don’t worry you get even more good deal using rate code. Alamo also offers few corporate ids for Wal-Mart or Costco etc. With Costco offer you can get additional driver free.
Other Discount Rates – There are several rate codes can be applied while booking with Alamo car rental service and you can get some real good rates. The rate codes are WT3E, TVE, WT5D etc. The rate code WT5D can be applied to get compact at $199, Midsize at $219, Full-size at $229, Minivan at $259 etc. under ‘Rent 5 Days and Save’. The rate code PBD can be applied to get compact at $47.99 and Minivan at $53.99 per day under ‘Great Daily Rates’. You can check all these offers at Alamo.com under ‘HOT DEAL’ page. The trick is when you are applying for prepay and some other special rate you have to use the rate code with prefixed by ‘P’. Suppose you are applying for rate code WT5D you can even more save by prepay and applying the rate code as PWT5D along with the ID as PREPAYHD.
