Forget the frills and the fondant; a guy is never going to go for that! If you need cupcakes for a camouflage lover, give him camouflage. Every cupcake creation doesn’t have to be flowers, fondant bees, and swirls of color. A guy needs a less feminine cupcake for his birthday or other celebration. You might think it would be challenging to make camouflage cupcakes but it really isn’t. There are lots of different ways to make them so you can have just the style that your guy will love.

Make just the cupcakes to be camouflage, just the frosting to be, or make camo cake and frosting. To make cupcakes with a camouflage look, start with one yellow cake and one chocolate cake. Mix up the batter from each cake, and tint the yellow cake with green food coloring. Pour half of the usual amount of chocolate batter into a cupcake liner. Use a big spoon to scoop the batter over to one side, and quickly pour in the green cake batter. Bake as you normally would. You can do something similar to add yellow batter to the brown and green. You can also layer the colors in the cupcake liner.

Frosting a camo cupcake is easy when you put the frosting on a piece of waxed paper. Lay a nice row of chocolate frosting, followed by a row of green frosting, and lay them end-to-end. The two frosting colors, together, should be as long as the cupcake is wide. Scoop both colors onto a knife and spread them across the cupcake. Another way to frost the cupcake is to frost half of the cupcake with one color, and then frost the other half with the other color.

If you pipe on the frosting it’s really simple to create a camouflage look. Frost the cupcake with brown frosting, and pipe on green frosting. Or, frost with green, and pipe on brown and yellow frosting. There are lots of different combinations and designs that you can do.

You don’t absolutely have to combine batter colors, or frosting colors, to create camouflage cupcakes. You can use candies to create the look that you want. Frost a cupcake with chocolate frosting, and then make a candy design, using green jellybeans or other candies. Or, do the opposite, frost the cupcake with green frosting, and top with brown chocolates.

Your camouflage-loving guy is going to be thrilled to see the unusual cupcakes and he’ll know that you took the time to make them yourself. Hey, if you act like it was a whole lot of work maybe he’ll remember that on your birthday!
