On America’s Birthday, experience the fascinating history, entertainment, and excitement that Boston, home of America’s first patriots, offers.

Boston’s a world-class city with intriguing historic sites. Seventeen sites are along Boston’s Freedom Trail. In 1762, from Faneuil Hall came the first opposition to British colonial rule. The site of the Boston Massacre is on the trail, which was one of the defining moments leading up to the American Revolutionary War. Boston’s the home of Revolutionary War hero Paul Revere, famous for his “midnight ride” of April 18, 1775. And, Bunker Hill is the location of the first major battle leading to America’s independence from Britain.

Boston’s the home of the infamous “Boston Tea Party,” where the Sons of Liberty under the leadership of Paul Revere and others impersonating Mohawk Indians boarded British ships and dumped 300 chests of tea into Boston Harbor.

About a half-hour northwest of Boston is the Lexington Battle Green, where on April 19, 1775 the first shot of the American Revolution was fired by embattled colonist against elite British infantrymen who had marched from their encampment on Boston Common.

A short ride to Quincy will bring you to the historic home of John Adams, who was instrumental in the drafting of America’s Declaration of Independence.

Following a day’s sightseeing, attend the creme de la creme of all Fourth of July celebrations: The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. It’s the nation’s premier Yankee Doodle Dandy holiday event, with music by Keith Lockhart conducting the Boston Pops Orchestra and pageantry that well up feelings of patriotism. The two-day event held on the Charles River Esplanade peaks on the Fourth with Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” amidst a volley of howitzer cannon fire, church bells, and a breathtaking fireworks display over the Charles River.
