Boondocks – Casual Riverfront Dining Near Daytona Beach, Florida

Daytona Beach is one of the most famous beaches in the world. It attracts tourists from all over the country. Plenty of dining and shopping is available in the area but Boondocks is a little different than the rest.

A short drive from Daytona Beach will get you to Boondocks Restaurant. Technically, it’s located in Wilbur-by-the-Sea. The restaurant is situated right on the Halifax River. A large outdoor deck is provided for additional seating for authentic riverfront dining.

The menu is full of choices but mainly consists of locally caught sea food. Catch of the Day specials are often the most popular and usually includes an appetizer and main course meal. For sea food lovers, the recommended dish is the Greek salad with an added tuna plank.

Non-sea food lovers have a few choices on the menu. The recommended dish for these folks is the BBQ pork sandwich. Sides include fries, onion rings, and more.

Expect to pay reasonable fees for meals at Boondocks Restaurant. A couple can leave without paying more than $20, depending on their choices. More expensive dishes are available as well.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. Late dining is an excellent way to enjoy an awesome sunset over Halifax River. The staff members know the details of each meal and can help customers choose what they might like best. Their friendly and are always in the “Boondocks” mood.

A full bar is located inside of the restaurant and alcoholic beverages are available to those who are seated in the dining area and on the deck. Soups, salads and a small desert menu are also available for those wanting a little more with their meals.

Before leaving, be sure to save a little for the friendly catfish greeters who reside in the Halifax River. Eager to munch just about anything you can offer, their large wet faces are waiting and ready. Customers enjoy tossing spinach, lettuce, bread and other left over food items into the river to watch the frenzy that erupts as the catfish devour their tasty snacks.

Boondocks is a great place to spend time dining while enjoying the view of the Halifax River. Evening dining is especially nice while watching the sunset, but be aware that bug spray will be needed! Boondocks has their own to offer to customers for use, but you can bring your own as well. It’s just one of those things that goes along with being right on the river!
