Tasu Asian Bistro Sushi & Bar
Although I live in Brier Creek, I only recently stumbled upon this particular hidden gem, offering 2 for 1 sushi for dine in patrons — all day — and everyday of the week. Featuring over 50 specialty rolls, you will definitely find a favorite on their extensive menu. Aside from sushi and sashimi, Tasu offers a wide variety of Asian entrees with steak or seafood — granting a taste of China, Japan, Vietnam, or Thailand. The servers here are very friendly and the restaurant has a nice layout, with a main dining area and also a separate bar area. The bar area features several big screen TVs, and is quite comfortable. Most of the restaurants in the Brier Creek neighborhood are casual, and this one is no different. It presents a very nice ambiance and décor to patrons.
I normally begin dinner at Tasu with a house salad, which is reasonably priced at $3. It has mixed greens, spicy wontons, and I order it with the ginger dressing — delicious salad that is worth every penny. For sushi, my personal favorites on the menu include the spicy tuna and the salmon rolls.
I must admit — the very last time I visited Tasu I ventured outside of my norm, and decided to try one of the Thai curry entrées. Although you can choose from beef, shrimp, or veggies & tofu — I ordered the yellow curry with chicken. According to the Tasu menu, the entrée includes, “yellow curry with coconut milk, onion, sweet potato, cashews, lemongrass, Kaffir lime leaves and Asian basil.” Hands down this was the BEST Thai dish I have eaten anywhere in the Raleigh area.
