Best Spots for a Romantic Dinner in Hoboken, New Jersey

Baja, Hoboken

Hoboken’s one square mile offers many great spots for a romantic dinner. Whether your pleasure is Italian, American, Asian, Mexican, or something else entirely, Hoboken, New Jersey, is certain to have a place to please. Just across the Hudson River from Manhattan, Hoboken is a popular city for residents of northern New Jersey and New York City alike. Here are the best spots for a romantic dinner in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Buskers. This restaurant boasts some ridiculously good dishes. Chic and elegant, Buskers makes for a great romantic setting in downtown Hoboken. Try the fried mozzarella as an appetizer and the filet as your main course. The prices are a bit high, but the dishes are prepared pretty perfectly and definitely justify the cost.

Ted & Jo’s. This family-owned restaurant is cute and cozy and perfect for a date or romantic dinner. The food is delicious and always cooked to order. The staff is friendly, and the service is great. I highly recommend the balsamic chicken with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. If they are busy, take a seat at the bar. Their drinks are strong and reasonably priced. In the spring and summer months, you can enjoy your dinner outside at one of their tables on the corner of 11th and Garden.

Baja. This Mexican restaurant on 14th Street is magnificent. A large menu with something for everyone and a list of tequilas that will make your head spin. Their margaritas are outstanding, and I dare you to drink just one. Made to order, they are the perfect accompaniment to Baja’s delicious dishes. I highly recommend the Baja Special for Two. You and your date will share a tremendous dish of sliced steak, grilled chicken, jumbo shrimp, and all the fixings. It’s made for two, but large enough for three, and you are certain to enjoy every bite. The Mexican music gives the joint a festive atmosphere, while the dim lighting makes it mucho romantic. This is a great first date place. If you arrive on the weekend, give your name to the hostess and grab a seat at the bar. Baja does get pretty busy. But the food is well worth the wait. Try the flan for dessert.

Court Street. This American restaurant is hidden away off of Washington Street on Sixth. And it’s truly a hidden gem. Their desserts alone are well worth the trip. An elegant dining room allows for a romantic dinner, while the bar is perfect for a more casual meal. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. The food is always cooked to perfection. Try a weekday to avoid the possibility of crowds.

Tutta Pasta. This Italian restaurant on Washington Street is a favorite of actor Danny Aiello’s. The food is authentic and delicious, though the portions are quite small. Enjoy a Peroni beer with a dish of chicken marsala and a side of pasta.

Amanda’s. The ultimate Hoboken date place, Amanda’s has been a favorite romantic spot for dinner for quite some time. Located on Washington Street near 8th, Amanda’s offers delicious dishes at reasonable prices in a cozy atmosphere.

Frankie and Johnnies. If you are going to splurge on a romantic dinner in Hoboken, do so at Frankie and Johnnies on 14th Street. Elegant and overall superb, this is a perfect spot to celebrate that special occasion. Make reservations early if you want a table on the weekends or a holiday. And make sure there is plenty of room left on your credit card, because your bill may come as a shock. But the entrees are worth every penny.
