Best Neighborhoods in Brooklyn, New York

Brooklyn New York

For those who have never lived in Brooklyn New York you will probably not realize how much it has to offer. Brooklyn itself is broken down into several different neighborhoods. You have Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Park Slope, Red Hook, Fort Greene, and Williamsburg to name some of the most popular. Following are two of the best neighborhoods in Brooklyn.

The first of my favorites is Cobble Hill. It is a little less expensive to live than some of the other areas in Brooklyn, and it is a nice quite area. Here you will find plenty of brownstones and restaurants. For those who don’t know if you are trying to get their from the subway it is stops F or G to Bergen Street. This area is well known for its landmark building. You will see a lot of high priced real estate from $500,000 to well over $1 million dollars. If that is way out of you budget than you can try some of the loft style apartments that they have available in the area. If you are looking for a place to eat in Cobble Hill you can try the Quercy which is located at 242 Court Street, Brooklyn New York 11201. The telephone number for this restaurant is 718-243-2151. They serve amazing French cuisine, but they are a little high priced. The average entree price is about $15 to $25. This place is best known for the amazing soups that they offer. They are open Monday through Thursday from 5:00pm until 10:30pm, and Friday through Sunday from 11:00am until 10:30pm. On the weekends they serve brunch, and they also have a full bar. If you are planning to eat here you will definitely need to make reservations. If that does not satisfy your appetite you can also try the Restaurant Saul located at 140 Smith Street Brooklyn New York. The telephone number I s718-935-9844. They serve American, French cuisine. Reservations are also requested for this location.

So what about shopping in the Cobble Hill area? They have the nicest little community Bookstore which is located at 212 Court Street Brooklyn New York. The telephone number is 718-834-9494. They have tons of new and used books everywhere. The best part of the store is the $1 bin where you can get great books for just one dollar. They are open daily form 2:00pm until 11:00pm. There is also a store called Diane T, which is located at 174 Court Street. The telephone number is 718-923-5777. There are plenty of additional shops and restaurants located in the area. Most of those shops are family run shops. As for schools in Cobble Hill there are a total of three. there is public School 29 located on Henry street, a and is known for the extracurricular activities that is offered to students. There is also two 6-12th grade schools located in the area. Traffic in the area is usually no too bad, and there are several parks for the kids.

Brooklyn Heights used to be known as Brooklyn Village. In this area you will find tons of row houses and maybe one or two mansions in the area. The houses have very high ceilings and most include fireplaces. They also have a very diverse group of people who live in the Brooklyn Heights area. They even have some houses that date far back into the 19th century that have been preserved. Since this is a historic district you will not find many high rise buildings in the area. This is also a very sought after area. Many of the homes start at $580,000 and go as high as 1.5 million dollars. There are also plenty of places to eat such as the Five Front Restaurant located at 5 Front Street, Brooklyn New York. The telephone number is 718-625-5559. They have great American dishes at this location. They have great salads and a nice bar. They are open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm until 11:00pm, Friday from 5:30pm until 12:00pm, and Saturday from 11:00am until 12:00pm. They are also open on Sundays from 11:00am until 11:00pm. The price range is from $17-$20 per entrée. Some additional places to easy is the Brooklyn Ice Crème Factory located at 1 Water Street, Brooklyn New York, and Teresa’s located at 103 First Ave. New York. There is also plenty of little quaint shops found in the area.
