Best Foundation Makeup for Black Women

Drug Stores, Foundation Makeup, M.A.C., Smashbox

The media and celebrities claim that several foundation brands are the best. However, after you’ve heard what everyone else thinks, only you can make the final choice. I’ve tried several brands of foundations, from the cheap ones that cost below five dollars to the more expensive ones over $20.00. Generally, the the well-known brands, touted as the best for black women, are all over the magazines like Essence, Ebony and Jet, but the best foundation makeup looks outstanding on you.

M.A.C.
The tried and true M.A.C. is well known because celebrities adore it. It glides on the face, lasts just about all day and you can get it from anywhere between $20 to $30.00. The only thing not to love is that M.A.C. isn’t sold in drug stores like Riteaid or Walgreens, so you have to take a ride out to your local department store’s makeup counter or search online to find it, but even if the MAC store or counter is not close by, it’s worth the trip because this makeup has a reputation for lasting. However, this foundation does offer a lot of coverage. If your skin doesn’t need the extra coverage, you may want to opt for something of a lighter weight.

Smashbox
With a wild name like Smashbox, this makeup just has to be hip right? Well, it is tops. I have some in my purse right now. Smashbox liquid foundations give skin a lighter coverage. If you have naturally good skin and are looking for a nice tinted moisturizer or light weight foundation, Smashbox may definitely be for you. Coming in at a price of approximately $22.50, you can find Smash Box at makeup stores like Sephoria or Ulta. The general drug stores usually do not carry this brand.

Black Radiance
This brand is under $5.00, and well it’s a very good product. I have used their bronzer, blush, lip gloss and their foundation, and unfortunately I was a little disappointed at their foundation, but I think i just bought the wrong color. If I had taken more time to experiment and find the right color for my skin tone, I may have had more success. However, I do find that to be the one thing that keeps me going to cosmetic’s counters rather than drug stores for makeup. With drug stores, there’s no one there to be patient with you as you find the perfect match for your skin tone. There are no makeup artists. it’s just you at the drug store. Hopefully. They take returns.

Covergirl

Yes. Covergirl has some of the best foundation makeup for black women. I used a brand they have called Creme Mouse in the shade Caramel. Also, before it got discontinued, i used Covergirl H2O also in the color caramel. It’s an excellent foundation for the price of about $9.00…However, it does not last as long as M.A.C. But for the price, it’s a real deal.

There you have it, the best foundation makeup for black women!
