Whether you are looking for a good place to spend some quality time with man’s best friend or give your dog the opportunity to get the exercise he or she needs, a dog park is the place to go. Dog parks give your dog the chance to run free and socialize with other dogs in a safe environment. In my experience the best dog parks in Greenville, SC are Canine Corner at Cleveland Park and Falls Park on the Reedy each with their own pros and cons.
Canine Corner at Cleveland Park is located near downtown Greenville and provides the best variety of activities for you and your dog in the area. The park is free and allows you to set your dog loose in a fenced in area of about half an acre. This is a wonderful way for your dog to get a lot of exercise and socialize with other dogs without you having to watch them every second. The park is very clean and even provides you with doggie bags when needed. Another wonderful thing about Canine Corner is that it sits within the extensive Cleveland Park which has a wonderful walking trail for you and your four legged friend. This park offers a variety of different activities if you are looking to make a day of it. Some of these activities include: tennis, a large playground, the Greenville Zoo, soccer and softball fields, and pavilion/ cookout areas. Also in case of an emergency Cleveland Animal Hospital is right up the road. The park is in a good neighborhood, has plenty of activities and parking, and your canine will love it. The only downside is that though there are water fountains at the park they rarely work so be sure to bring water for your dog and yourself.
Falls Park on the Reedy is actually connected with Cleveland Park and is located in Downtown Greenville. It is in a wonderful neighborhood and is very beautiful. As the name would suggest the trails are beautiful and come complete with waterfalls. The park is very well kept and there is a large variety of scenery from open fields, waterfalls, the river, and wooded areas. One of the best things about this park is that it is only a few blocks walk down Main Street to the Barkery Bistro which is an amazing store for canines. Take your dog inside to pick out a homemade dog treat while you browse the large selection of pet clothing, food, and gifts. This area is very dog friendly and many stores have water bowls set outside for your pup and doggie bags are available along the street. The down side is that because the park is located in the city the park tends to be very crowded with a variety of people and their dogs therefore you should keep your dog on a leash. Also there is very little parking unless you are willing to pay for parking in a parking deck.
Over all these two parks are the best dog parks in the Greenville area as well as among the best I have seen throughout the country. Both parks give you the opportunity to spend time with your dog and give him or her exercise they need while still having a good time yourself. These parks provide a place for your dogs to get good exercise, socialize, and most important spend quality time with you.
