Best Beaches to Visit in Los Angeles

Best Beaches

If you are looking for nice beaches in Los Angeles for a great vacation spot, here are a few ideas. Some of the best beaches in Los Angeles are Malibu, Venice Beach, and Paradise Cove. All of these beaches have a beautiful view with lots of sun and sand. They are a great tourist attraction and have many fun things to do. You might even want to visit all three of the beaches. Here is some details on them including activities, costs, and location.

Malibu is located at 17985 Pacific Coast Highway, Los Angeles, CA 90272-4170. There is free admission and it is open Thursday thru Monday from 10am to 5pm, closed on major holidays. After years and millions of dollars in renovations, the Getty Villa Museum is open again. The musuem has Greek, Roman, and Etruscan artifacts that are from 6500 B.C. to A.D. 400. There is more than 1,200 works in 23 galleries and exhibits range from coins, jewelry, and sculptures. Admission is free but parking cost $8. Malibu Pier is a landmark that surfers from all over come to surf the waves at the Surfrider Beach, which is adjacent to Malibu.

Venice Beach is a beach located in West Los Angeles on the Santa Monica Bay. There is free admission, but you may have to pay a parking fee depending on where you park. Venice is always busy and there is biking, surfing, swimming, volleyball, and walking paths. So if you do not mind busy and loud beaches you will probably like this one. Weekdays will be better if you like less of a crowd. The Venice Boardwalk is where you will see performers, artists, skaters, and vendors selling all different things. Muscle Beach is where Arnold Schwarzenegger and other body builders have worked out in the outdoor weight room. If that is interesting to you, you can buy a day pass to enjoy working out in the sun. Only a few blocks are left of the Venice Canals out of 16 miles of waterways that were made, that was once Venice-of-America in 1905.

Paradise Cove is a small beach north of Malibu off of Highway 1. There is an entrance and parking fee, but fees are not available to find until you go there. Paradise Cove is also a busy beach, so you may want to go on weekdays, which is a lot less crowded. Some activities here are tidepooling, swimming, fishing, volleyball, bodysurfing and dinner or drinks. Paradise Cove also has live music every Tuesday and Thursday at their restaurant. This beach is where television programs The OC, Baywatch, and the Rockford Files were taped. Also, movies American Pie 2 and Beach Blanket Bingo were taped here.
