Best Austin, Texas Steak Houses

Steak Houses

There are lots of things Texas is known for. As far as cuisine is concerned there is nothing better than a nice big steak. There isn’t a city in Texas that doesn’t have a few wonderful steak houses and Austin is no exception. From places that cater to the casual diner to all out fine dining perfect for the most romantic of dates, Austin steak houses deliver. Whenever I am in Austin I go to at least one of the following best Austin steak house restaurants:

Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill is located at 9400 A. Arboretum Blvd. Check out their complete menu that features burgers, tacos, steak, chops, chicken and seafood all with a southwestern flair. They even have gluten free selections for anyone who has those particular dietary issues. They are open for lunch and dinner seven days per week and have brunch menus for both Saturday and Sunday starting at 10:00 am. Monday happy hour is 4:00 pm to close and Tuesday through Friday 4 – 6 pm. The lunch menu starts at around $4 through $15 with the average lunch fare coming in at about $10. $10 – $25 will get you a great portioned dinner averaging approximately $15. For brunch less that $10 will get you a great meal but don’t forget to pair it with a screwdriver, mimosa or bloody Mary at special pricing.

Backstage Steak House located at 21814 Hwy 71 W, has a great, home town décor with rock and roll memorabilia adorning the walls from years of collecting by the owners. This fairly new restaurant features live music nightly and great food. Check out their complete menu that features an abundance of appetizers and entrees including seafood, pork, chicken and lamb. But the real reason to come here is the steak. If you want to go on a Monday you will be out of luck as they are closed but every other day you can enjoy a cocktail at the bar starting at 4:00 pm and dinner starting at 5:00 pm. Price for most entrees averages around $25.

Finn and Porter located at 500 E 4th St is the place to go with a date to celebrate a special occasion or to impress. Dress up for this fine dining experience and enjoy the ambiance that includes an amazing bar area overlooking the restaurant. It is open daily at 5:00 pm for dinner featuring the freshest seafood and sushi. Their steaks are aged and grilled to perfection. Finn and Porter is also known for their award winning and extensive wine menu. Entrees start at approximately $30 but are well worth the expense and reservations are recommended here.

Houston’s at 2408 W Anderson is a great place to get a good steak at a reasonable price without having to get dressed up and find a babysitter. This family friendly, casual restaurant has reasonably priced meals where you can spend no more that $25 for a good steak entrée. On their menu they also feature burgers, sandwiches, salads and seafood. They have a decent though not extensive wine list with wines available by the half bottle.

From casual to fine dining Austin’s best steakhouses are the perfect choices when you are in the mood for a signature Texas dish. Enjoy Texas sized steak portions as well as seafood, chops, chicken and more at these restaurants.
