Best 5 Campgrounds in the Fort Myers, Florida, Area

Are you planning a trip to the Fort Myers, Florida, area this year? If so, you may want to stay in a campground as opposed to a fancy hotel. The campgrounds located in the Fort Myers area are quite nice. Here’s a quick rundown on five of the best ones:

1. Woodsmoke Camping Resort

Looking for a campground that has extra large pull-through sites to accommodate your rolling castle? One of the best places you can select is the Woodsmoke Camping Resort. It is located on U.S. Highway 41 in South Fort Myers. The campground offers 80 foot long, concrete padded campsites as well as an onsite Jacuzzi and heated swimming pool. There are plenty of other activities available on premise including billiards, a fitness center, boardwalk and a pair of lakes perfect for the weekend angler. Summer campsite rates tend to start at $52 a night and advance reservations are advised.

2. Seminole Campground

Family-friendly amenities, shady sites and easy access to Fort Myers’ most popular attractions are what await those who visit the Seminole Campground. It is located on Triplett Road. The facility features both natural and cement padded sites as well as woodland or waterfront sites. Amenities include an onsite dog park, recreational hall, heated swimming pool and a general store. Rates vary and advance reservations are suggested.

3. Cypress Woods RV Park

Looking for something a bit decadent? Check out the Cypress Woods RV Park on Luckett Road in Fort Myers. It features onsite massage services, a health spa, billiards room, large library and a club house complete with a state-of-the-art sound system and a stage. When it comes to camping, you don’t get much more posh than that. Rates vary throughout the year and I’d suggest calling ahead for reservations.

4. Up River RV Resort

The Up River RV Resort is a great campground for anglers. The campground is located right on the Caloosahatchee River and offers some of the best red drum and snook fishing around. Fishing not your passion? The campground has a plethora of other activities as well. It features an onsite golf course, tennis court, bocce ball area, billiards room, heated swimming pool and a spa. Other amenities include a library, shuffleboard court, fitness room and internet access. It also has 100 foot pull-through sites complete with concrete patios. Prices vary and advance reservations may be made online.

5. Fort Myers Pine Island KOA

The Fort Myers Pine Island KOA is another campground worth considering. What I like about it is that shuttle service to and from the area attractions is available onsite during select times of the year. It makes it so much easier to get to the beach that way. Other amenities on premise include a hot tub, a heated pool, a playground for the kids, paved bike paths and an exercise room. The campground also offers package rates that include a kayak trip, meals and firewood. Rates do vary depending on the package or site desired. The campground’s only downfall is that it is a 35 minute drive to Fort Myers. It is located on Stringfellow Road in St. James City.
