Bath & Body Works Pleasures Lotion: Skin Care Haven

Peony

I am a skin care junkie. Truly. Body Shop,Aloette, Victoria’s Secret, Mary Kay, Bath & Body Works… you name it and I’ve used it. I think I am on a quest to find the best products I can possibly use.

So, what does a skin care junkie look for in a body lotion? I know it shouldn’t be my first priority, but I look for fragrance. To tell you the truth, that’s why I don’t use Aloette body lotion, even though I feature it in my store – I don’t like the fragrance. I want a fragrance to be light, yet last a long period of time. Victoria’s Secret makes some terrific scents, but they just don’t last long enough for my liking.

Bath & Body Works Pleasures Lotion has the best fragrance factor of any of the hundreds of body lotions that I have tried. The lotion absorbs right into your skin without leaving it greasy, so the fragrance stays on for hours. All of the scents in the Pleasures Lotion also come in spray, cream, shower gel, and body scrub, so you can layer them for a stronger scent that lasts longer. (There are other items, but not all of the scents come in them.) Bath & Body Works Pleasures Lotion finishes off layering the scent, but can also be used alone for a lighter scent.

What’s great about this lotion is that it’s good for all skin types. It isn’t greasy, and it doesn’t leave a “coated” feeling behind. All that is left behind is smooth, moisturized, fragrant skin. I tend to have very dry skin during the winter, and have found that I need to apply a little more lotion than usual because my skin is so thirsty. While it is good for all skin types, you might have to use just a little more if your skin is on the dry side.

The ingredients are basically the same for all of the Pleasures Lotion fragrances. The difference is in the color additives and the fragrances used. I have a bottle of Peony in front of me, and will giv you these ingredients as an example of what you can find in Bath & Body Works Pleasures Lotion:

Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Petrolatum, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Fragrance (Parfum), Ceteareth-20, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Paeonia Albiflora (Peony) Flower Extract, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Propylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Benzyl Alcohol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Disodium EDTA, Red 40 (CI 16035), Red 33 (CI 17200).

Obviously, if you have nut allergies, you’ll probably want to shy away from this item. My friend, Deb, has a daughter that is VERY allergic to nuts, and I know that the macadamia oil would have a horrible effect of her.

This lotion is very light and can be used as your daily moisturizer. Since it has the fragrance and dyes in it, however, I would stick to using it just on your body– not on your face. (Fragrance can irritate the facial skin.)

The packaging is very attractive, too. All of the scents have their own specific color, but are all packaged in the same clear bottle. There is a clear sticker on the front of each bottle with the name in black, features of the lotion (for example, “infused with real peony extract”), There is nothing fancy about the packaging, which makes it even more appealing. Personally, I think simple packaging speaks volumes for the product– It doesn’t have to attract customers with anything fancy. The product sells itself!

The only bad thing about Bath & Body Works Pleasures Lotion is that a lot of the scents get discontinued very quickly, and without any notics. You’ll always find scents such as Cucumber Melon, Pearberry and Country Apple. However, they discontinued White Tea & Ginger, my favorite scent, almost as soon as it was introduced. But every cloud has a silver lining. During the big sales events that Bath & Body Works has, you can purchase the discontinued items – while they last – for about half price. Keep an eye out for those sales!

Bath & Body Works Pleasures Lotion can be purchased for $9 at any Bath & Body Works store. Unfortunately, it is not sold through their website, www.bathandbodyworks.com. However, you are encouraged to browse online and buy in the store.

In conclusion, Bath & Body Works Pleasures Lotion is awesome. The $9 isn’t even that expensive for the product that you are getting. I highly recommend it!
