Aubrey Organics Natural Mist Hair Spray

Hair Spray, Horse Chestnut, Inositol

About 8 years ago I started reading about harmful chemicals in our personal care products, and ended up spending 6 months doing research to educate myself on this issue.

I became increasingly concerned about the chemicals and plastics that go into most hair sprays. I know first hand the mess that the residue makes on my bathroom counter and floor, do I really want to be breathing in those chemicals?

I mean, I can literally scrape the gooey gunk off my countertops. When it gets wet, it almost turns into a glue like substance.

What to do? I found it very difficult to even find a company that made an all natural hair spray, until found Aubrey Organics. I visited their website, and sent away for a free small booklet called Natural Ingredients Dictionary Plus 10 Synthetic Cosmetic Ingredients to Avoid, compliments of Aubrey Organics. It was written by Aubrey Hampton. This book further convinced me that I needed to make some drastic changes, and I experimented with many Aubrey Organics beauty products.

Natural Mist Hair Spray Super Hold

This hair spray comes in a white plastic bottle, with a green cap and a pump spray, and it contains 8 ounces. The bottle states that it is an herbal hair spray, and that it’s super hold formula will hold your style all day.

It also says that it contains Vitamin B-5 and herbal holding agents, and that it plastic compounds and harsh synthetics.

The back states: stronger formula keeps hard-to-hold hair in place all day. Extra gum arabic gives more holding power, and amino acids, vitamins and a little PABA nourish and protect.

Thoughts

I used this hair spray for several months, and was overall pleased with it’s performance. I surely could not complain about the ingredients, this is exactly what I was lookin for.

The hair spray doesn’t have a perfumy scent that so many others have, in fact it doesn’t have much of a smell at all. I like that there are no synthetic perfumes added, as I have a sensitive nose.

The bottle is comfortable to hold, with the pump spray being easily within reach of my first finger. Some bottles are actually large enough that the reach is difficult for me.

The spray comes out in a fine mist, which I really like – it was almost like using a product that is a cross between a pump and an aerosol. It’s easy to obtain even and full coverage.

I can say for certain that this hair spray does indeed provide a SUPER hold, in fact it was a little bit too strong for my tastes. Once it was applied, my hair looked like it was stiff and not at all natural.

What I didn’t like about the Aubrey Oragnics Natural Mist Hair Spray is that the pump spray nozzle got clogged regularly, even when I returned the protective cap each time. I soaked it in hot water, and attempted to run hot water through the sprayer, but this didn’t always work, and when it did it was for short periods and it would clog up again.

I plan on purchasing the Aubrey Organics Natural Mist Hair Spray in the regular hold to see if this will work better and maybe not clog up as often. It comes in both an 8 ounce and a 4 ounce bottle. I love the integrity of this company, and I liked the super hold of this hair spray. If not for the clogging issue, I would gladly recommend this product.
