Applebee’s Red Apple Sangria

Applebee39s, Applebees, Sangria

My husband and I decided to take an hour or so away from the kids to head out to dinner, so we went to Applebee’s. I was longing for an adult type beverage and after browsing the drinks menu, I settled on a Red Apple Sangria. Normally I would get a Daquiri or a Martini but thought I would try something new. I was surprised when they brought the drink out.

First of all, the glass was huge, served mucho sized as Applebee’s calls it. It was very neat looking, with it’s fresh fruit topping. It had an orange wedge on the glass along with a lime wedge. Also on two little plastic swords they had 2 cherries and 2 apple balls. I ate all the fruit which was very good.

The drink consisted of Sutter Home Cabernet, DeKuyper Luscious Red Apple liqueur, tropical fruit juices and lemon-lime soda. It sounded good so I gave it a try. The first sip was pretty strong but afterwards, it didn’t taste as good. I think it was because it had so much ice in it that it started to get watered down, it tasted more like a regular drink than an alcoholic beverage.

They also had other Sangrias which I may try the next time I head to Applebee’s but not sure if I will get the Red Apple Sangria again. It was good but not great. I think I prefer the frozen type drinks better. I did like the fruity taste of the drink along with the size, I definitely got my money’s worth. Although it didn’t fill me up as some of the other drinks do, I could’ve had a few more of those but settled for just the one.

What I didn’t like about the drink was that it did taste a bit watery after a while and although huge, was not really filling. At about five dollars a glass, it was somewhat reasonable but did cost almost as much as our meals. You may get your money’s worth on this drink but not sure if I would really buy another one or not. Maybe if they cut back on putting so much ice in the drink, it would be better. So over all, it was a nice little, or should I say big, drink. The Red Apple Sangria from Applebee’s is something I may or may not purchase again.
