Apple Tree Hanging Wax Potpourri Warmer from Yankee Candle

Apple Trees, Waxing, Yankee Candle

I am a scent fanatic, whether it be perfume, soaps, shampoos and conditioners, or home fragrances, I am on it. My favorite home fragrances have always been from Yankee Candle.

I adore Yankee Candles, they always smell fantastic and manage to fill up the entire room with realistic fragrances. However as well all know Yankee Candles are not cheap. Most of their candles ask for $15.00-$20.00, and it’s a price that I don’t like spending on just one candle.

Did you know though you can buy the same exact scents in tarts? These are the small little reese’s peanut butter cup shaped discs you see just below the actual candles in all of their stores.

If you love a candle scent they have available, you can buy the exact scent in the little disc and save yourself 4 times what the candle costs. However you are going to need something to burn those tarts in, otherwise they are just pointless cups of wax.

I myself adore apple home designs for the kitchen. I over the years have picked up apple products to one day fill my own kitchen. One item that was an absolute must have was Yankee Candles Apple Tree Hanging Wax Potpourri Warmer. I needed the warmer for my Yankee Candle tarts, and I wanted something that would match my (one day) kitchen.

The Apple Tree Hanging Warmer is adorable. It is an actual apple tree with apples on it. The tree itself is a hard ceramic like material which is sturdy, from the tree there is a chain that holds a red melting bowl.

At the bottom there is a perfect cut out circle for the placement of a tea light.

Besides the cut out space for the tea light the base has baskets of apples, grass, leaves that have fallen from the tree, and a rake that lays against the tree. There is also a very cute brown wooden crate with a table cloth with blue and white checks on it.

I choose this particular burner only because I knew it would match the rest of my apple decor perfectly. It was country kitchy looking, and I loved it.

The warming bowl though was what worried me. Most burners I have used before never have been so far away from the tea light, so I wondered if it would be able to warm the wax tart at all.

I had to test the Apple Tree Hanging Wax Potpourri Warmer, before packing it back up. If it didn’t warm up the wax and release scent than this sucker was going back to the store.

The result:

I placed in the bowl a honey suckle scented tart and lit the tea light. It took a good 20 minutes to even show signs of the tart melting. I knew that the tea light would burn out before the wax completely melted. However that was not the case. The wax was 75% melted by the time the tea light went out. I lit up another one, and waited.

Overall it took nearly 45 minutes to an hour for me to begin to smell the wax tart.

It is my opinion that it took way too long to heat up the tart, but seeing how the Apple Tree Hanging Wax Potpourri Warmer was so adorable I could not part with it. I figured I could still use it to burn oil seeing how it took too long to melt wax.

Recommendation:

It works perfectly as an oil burner, but not so great when used to melt wax tarts. I still recommend it, and think that if you have an apple theme going on in your kitchen that this warmer will suit perfectly and look great with the rest of your decor.
