Review: BeBe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener

Epinions.com

The BeBe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener is an inexpensive heart listener that makes the claim that you can hear your babies heartbeat, hiccups and kicks with ease. They claim that their unit will pick up the sounds as early as the 5th month of pregnancy. You simply place the monitor on your belly and then listen through the included headsets that are provided. There are two headsets in each kit so Dad can listen, too. They even sell a tape recorder that you can attach separately to record the babies sounds.

Once the baby arrives you can use the same device to record your own heartbeat to sooth your baby after birth since baby adores moms heartbeat to fall asleep too.

You can pick up the BeBe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener at stores like Target and Wal Mart for only $19.99. You can also order one online at virtually any baby supply.

The question is, does this heart listener truly work? I don’t think it works at all. I was given one of these during my second pregnancy and I was sadly disappointed. I could never hear my sons heartbeat. I could hear my own heart beating, I could hear my stomach rumbling and growling, but I never once heard my baby. I could not even hear him when I was 40 weeks pregnant.

I truly expected this little device to work like the ones that the doctors office used. They would simply place the wand on my belly and hear both the babies heart beat and mine. But this never happened with the BeBe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener. I thought perhaps it was me. I thought maybe the batteries were bad so I placed new batteries into the unit with no luck. Then I thought perhaps the babies position was wrong but at that time I looked up the BeBe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener online and I noticed that no one seemed happy with it. Everyone who had purchased one complained of the same problems that I was experiencing. I was not alone in my dissatisfaction with the heart listener.

I would strongly suggest that if you are considering purchasing this monitor then you need to read as many website reviews as you can find. They all seem to state the same thing about the listener and that is that it does not work so don’t waste your money. I would advice the same thing. I was sadly disappointed with it and I would never buy one. If I was given one as a gift again I would take it back to the store it was purchased from for a complete refund as soon as possible.

There are some people who claim to hear their baby moving or kicking but I have to wonder if they are truly hearing these sounds or the simple sounds that moms body makes. Doctors state that when moms belly growls and her bowels rumble the baby will move around so this might be the sounds that the few people claim they can hear and they cannot actually hear the movement of the baby. I would think that the movement of the baby in the amniotic fluid would be fairly silent. I know that during my last two months of my pregnancy I was considered ‘high risk’ so I had to be attached to every kind of monitor the hospital had twice a week to make sure that the baby and I were OK. During all that monitoring all I ever heard was my babies heartbeat, my own belly growling, and my own heart beat. I never once actually ‘heard’ the baby move. I could feel him moving but the monitors were always silent when he moved. So I seriously wonder if the monitor could even pick up the ‘noise’ of a baby surrounded in fluid moving. These are just my own thoughts on baby movement. I’m sure that your doctor would be more qualified to answer this question.

I would save my money and not purchase the Bebe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener. I cannot recommend anything about it. I think it is a rip off and I’m surprised they company is still in business selling these useless devices.
