RV Camping in Newport, Oregon

RV campers have several lodging opportunities in Newport, a city on the central Oregon coast with a population of just more than 10,000 residents, as of 2006.

Newport is best known for one of its former residents, Keiko the killer whale, star of the “Free Willy” movies who lived at the Oregon Coast Aquarium from 1996 to 1998 before he was released in the wild.

Keiko might be gone, but Newport remains a popular tourist destination. The Historic Bayfront district is home to a wide selection of shops and restaurants, including attractions such as the Wax Works Museum, Ripley’s Believe it Or Not and the Oregon Undersea Gardens.

If you’re planning on traveling to Newport via RV, you’ll have several parks from which to choose that will put you close to the bay area.

Port of Newport RV Parks

The Port of Newport has two RV parks in town, both near the marina and featuring a total of 143 RV sites. The parks have pull-through sites that can accommodate big rigs, and each has full hookups, with water, sewer and electrical connections. Wireless Internet access is available for an additional fee, and guests have access to onsite laundry, restroom and shower facilities.

The parks’ proximity to the marina means you’ll have easy access to a fishing pier, crab traps and charter boats. You’ll also have use of the onsite crab cooker and nearby picnic area.

Pets are welcome for no additional fee, as long as they remain leashed when on the park grounds.
