I have been searching for a natural deodorant for awhile so that I could reduce the amount of aluminum that I was putting onto my body. There are plenty of natural deodorants on the market but my problem was in finding one that would work as effectively as my usual deodorant.
I decided to buy Crystal Body Deodorant Stick after reading great reviews about it on drugstore.com. For around $5.99 I bought a 4.25 oz stick of the Crystal Body Deodorant, which claimed to eliminate odor by providing a barrier against odor-causing bacteria. The Crystal Deodorant Stick is made from natural mineral salts and ammonium alum (that’s it), it’s all natural and comes in a c-thru lavender tube, that compliments the deodorant (which really does look like a smooth crystal) perfectly.
The Crystal Stick looks and works differently than any other deodorant I’ve ever used. My old deodorants were made from either gel or compressed powder while the Crystal Stick looks like a smooth stone and it has to be moistened before it’s applied to the under arms.
Even though the crystal was smooth I thought that it wouldn’t glide across my skin, but after moistening the tip for a second with my fingers I was suprised to find that it was very easy to apply, and that it didn’t snag onto my skin. The Crystal is unscented and it doesn’t leave a residue behind, it just feels like you’re applying a wet stone to your armpits. Because of this I really didn’t know how much to apply so I swirled the deodorant about 5 or 6 times under each arm.
When it dries there was no sticky or dry feeling underneath my arms, and there also wasn’t any white marks to worry about getting onto my clothes. My underarms felt as clean, light, and natural as they did when I’d gotten out of the shower, only softer and it’s a great feeling. And they smelled like the body wash I’d used instead of a loud and obnoxious deodorant.
The big question for me was would this deodorant work as well as my regular deodorant, and the answer is yes, in fact the Crystal Body Deodorant actually works better than my normal deodorant. It doesn’t cover up odor it eliminates it, and on days when I’m not doing many strenous activities it keeps me smelling clean and fresh for 12+ hours.
Unlike an anti-perspirant the Crystal doesn’t prevent you from sweating, which is good because sweating is natural and it helps to eliminate toxins from the body. I’m not a heavy sweater so it’s not a big deal for me, but on a particularly hot day a few weeks ago I used the Crystal and a couple of hours later I felt myself sweating. I thought I was going to smell awful by the time I got home but I just smelled like sweat, not musty or funky. And on days like that I’d say the Crystal Body Stick keeps me protected for 8-10 hrs. When it does begin to wear off, the odor is way less apparent than it would be with regular deodorants.
This is the best deodorant I’ve ever tried and I’d recommend it to everyone. It works (even on feet), it can last up to a yr., or more and it’s the same price of regular deodorants. I have to give it 5 out of 5 stars.
