Consistency / Texture
While Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter and Planters Creamy Peanut Butter may be similar in appearance, the Planters peanut butter looks a little bit lighter in color to me.

Both brands of peanut butter are smooth and easy to spread, but I think that the Planters peanut butter is perhaps just a little bit thicker than the Skippy peanut butter. At any rate, both of these creamy peanut butters offer great spreadability and their individual mouth feels are quite appealing.

Taste / Flavor
Sometimes, when two similar products are being reviewed and compared, it is difficult to declare one of the products the best-tasting of the two. For many years, I have been eating Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter and I always enjoy its appealing flavor.

So far, I have purchased and eaten one jar of Planters Creamy Peanut Butter and I must say, I’m very impressed. As soon as I opened the jar of Planters Creamy Peanut Butter, I could smell the aroma of real peanuts. Upon tasting the Planters item for the first time, my tastebuds were very pleased.

To be honest, as soon as I saw Planters Creamy Peanut Butter on the shelf at a West Hartford, Connecticut Walgreens Pharmacy, I figured that it would offer a very authentic and pleasing flavor, because it is a Planters peanut product. My thoughts proved to be accurate. The Planters Creamy Peanut Butter does indeed offer a very pleasing flavor that is not only peanutty, but it is also nicely balanced.

Both of these brands of peanut butter are packaged in standard-type plastic peanut butter jars. Each jar is easy to open and includes a safety seal.

The largely blue and yellow front label on the new Planters Creamy Peanut Butter container shows an illustration of Planters’ famous spokespeanut Mr Peanut, with his ubiquitous top hat, monocle and walking cane and the rear label lists all pertinent nutrition and ingredient information.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter and Planters Creamy Peanut Butter are both tasty and well-textured products. Each of these peanut butters offers an authentic peanutty flavor, but the Planters product tastes a little more like fresh peanuts to me and the Skippy product tastes sweeter than the Planters peanut butter, although both butters contain the same amount of sugar.

Not to cop out or anything, but I wouldn’t even try to declare one of these brands of peanut butter as having the best overall flavor. Truthfully, each of these creamy peanut butters is very good and I highly recommend both brands.
