Get Rid of Dandruff

Dandruff is something that I used to suffer from for a long time and no matter what type of dandruff shampoo I purchased I was never able to get rid of it. In an effort to get rid of the dandruff for good I began to experiment with different things. Through this experimentation I was able to come up with a few ways to get rid of dandruff using home remedies that don’t burn a hole in your wallet.

Home remedies for dandruff

Lemon and Orange Juice: The acidic qualities of lemons and oranges aren’t just great for cleaning infections, they are also good for eliminating dandruff. Combine a forth of a cup of lemon juice with a forth of a cup of orange juice and mix well. Pour the mixture onto your hair and massage it into your scalp twice a day, washing it out with cold water. While you may want to use warm or hot water instead, this will actually cause more shedding of your scalp and as a result cause more flaking.

Eggs: Eggs are good for you in many ways, but they can also be used to help stimulate hair growth and promote hair health as well as ridding your head of dandruff. Simply beat two eggs in a bowl and then message into your scalp. Allow the eggs to dry for a half hour before gently rinsing them from your scalp.

Honey and oatmeal mixture: Honey contains high traces of vitamin E, which helps to promote healthy hair and skin. Purchase plain oatmeal and double the amount of required water so that it runs when heated. Taking a half a cup of unpasteurized honey, heat it until it is warm to the touch and combine it with your oatmeal, mixing until a fine paste is formed. Run the mixture through your hair and massage it into your scalp, leaving it in your hair for five to ten minutes. Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water until all the mixture has been removed.

Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil has long been recommended for dandruff treatment, but buying tea tree shampoo can get extremely expensive. If you have a favorite shampoo, simply mix a few drops of tea tree oil into it and apply it to your scalp. You can also apply the tea tree oil directly to your scalp and massage it directly.

Vinegar: Regular vinegar is a great way to get rid of dandruff due to the enzymes it contains as well as its strong anti-oxidant properties. The only downside to using vinegar is that if it is not rinsed properly from your hair it can leave a strong smell. In order to prevent this, mix some vinegar with your regular conditioner and apply it to your scalp. The conditioner will help to prevent the vinegar residue from staying in your hair.

Apple Juice: Apples contain enzymes which help to wash away dead skin and also help to promote healthy skin growth. You can also buy plain shampoo and combine it with some fresh apple sauce for the same effect and this will also help to promote healthy hair.
