April showers may bring May flowers but it also means you will need to remember to grab an umbrella on the way out. When my daughter was younger and I carried her around an umbrella I held protected us both well, now that she’s too big to carry everywhere she needs her own umbrella. I’ve tried giving her one of mine but she always ends up asking me to carry it. So how do I get a toddler to carry her own umbrella to help keep the rain off of her? The first suggestion I have is from Totes. This umbrella is actually the one my daughter chose after getting to try one like this one in the store. She loves it because she can stick her whole head up in it and still see out. Like a little groundhog!!

It will cost approximately $10. Kids will love being inside it, it will keep the rain off of them, and my favorite part of it is that kids are less likely to hit someone with it while walking.
My second suggestion is for a Disney themed umbrella. Amazon.com and Pronto.com have several listed on their websites for approximately $8-$20. You can find just about any Disney character on these websites. The Disney store also has a few, although not as many different characters.
My third suggestion is one of these fashionable kids’ umbrellas from Target. My daughter especially liked the clear one that has purple flowers for approximately $12. They have multi colored one that I thought would even work well for summer at the beach since it didn’t look as spring time-y as the others.
My fourth suggestion would be adorable collection sets you can buy at Macy’s. Although, they don’t come in a set all together, you have to buy each product separately, they make it easy to coordinate an entire outfit for the rain. You can purchase the umbrella, raincoat, boots, and even a rainproof back pack!!
Choose from firefighter theme, dinosaur theme, butterfly, or ladybug! Prices range from $10 – $30.
My last suggestion comes from Tootsies Childrens Rainwear. This website has a huge selection of unique and cool umbrellas to choose from for kids. They have a space umbrella, Hello Kitty, Construction Zone, Pirates, Flower shaped umbrellas, Fairies and more!! There is something to satisfy every child’s likes!!
