5 More Engagement Party Themes

Wedding Showers, Wine Party

I recently read Stephanie H. Dray’s 5 Engagement Party Themes. It is a great article with ideas on fun and interesting engagement party ideas. I love how engagement parties and wedding showers have continually changed over the years to reflect the times. You can truly throw a fabulous themed or unthemed wedding shower and engagement party that is customized specifically for the bride and groom.

Inspired by 5 Engagement Party Themes I decide to write down 5 More Engagement or Wedding Shower Party Themes.

1. Honeymoon Party

Now, going on a honeymoon is more than enough of a present in itself, but they are really expensive. I have been to a few wedding showers that were honeymoon inspired. You could either donate money towards the honey moon or even give a gift that could be used on the honeymoon. Many of these parties are always meant for both the bride and the groom. So, make sure you have a mix of both of their friends present at the wedding shower party. There are many websites out there that allow the bride and groom to register for their honeymoon. Guests can go online and “donate” a portion of the costs as a gift to the bride and groom. I love this idea because many of use get married later in life. We end up not needing to register for any household items.

I have also been to a wedding shower that everyone knew where the bride and groom were going for their honeymoon, so they bought them items they could use there. For example, many newlyweds go to a warm beach destination. So, gifts like sun block, nice beach towels, beach bags, underwater cameras, and more all great wedding gifts for both the bride and groom.

2. Garden party

For a more traditional wedding engagement party try throwing a Garden party. So many people get engage din the summer or even the spring, which is the perfect time to throw an outdoor party. Because this idea is more focused as an wedding engagement party you should let your guests know I a gift is expected. While most people know to bring a gift to a wedding shower, this can be optional for the engagement party.

3. Wine party

Now, a Wine party is perfect for either an engagement or a wedding shower party. Everyone I know loves wine. If your newly engage couple loves wine as well, why not start off their wine collection with a huge bang.

Guests can each bring the newly engage couple a bottle of wine. This is a fun and memorable way to start a new couple off. You could also give them a list of projects and ideas they could use their wine bottles and corks for. Ideas like making a lamp out of the wine bottle and a cork board out of the corks are great ideas!

4. Cooking Class

I went to a wedding shower that was a Cooking Class once. It is truly one for the best wedding showers I have ever been to. Even if all of your family and friends are not too into cooking, they are probably into eating!

This cooking class would work well for an engagement party or a wedding shower. This is also a great idea if you want to host a large party and don’t have a large home to host it in. This is also great for keeping all of your guests busy doing something that is sure to start some conversations.

5. Low Country Boil

For those of you who do not know what a low country boil is, it is very much like a crab boil. You take a big pot (outside on a burner of course) and fill it with sausage, shrimp, corn, and potatoes. Add some crab boil seasoning and cook away. This is a fun casual meal that is a great social way to celebrate a wedding engagement. You can feed a huge crowd with a low country boil. Clean up I easy as well since you simply pour the food out on a table that has been covered in newspaper. Just go to www.foodnetwork.com and type in low country boil or frogmore stew in their search engine. You will find quite a few options for creating your low country boil you don’t have to be Southern to enjoy great food in a causal setting. You can also host this low country boil part inside as well as out. When I cook this meal inside I usually line a great huge platter with some newspaper and pour the shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes out on that.
