As the days turn warmer, many families are beginning to look for ways to escape the heat. Georgia residents need not look any further than their backyards for the perfect cool off: a water park. Here is a detailed guide to five water parks that are scattered throughout the state.

Six Flags White Water Atlanta: This is the largest water park in the Southeast and is located right off of Interstate 75 in Marietta, Georgia. This park is mega fun, but can get mega crowded, so plan accordingly. White Water offers over 40 slides for guests to choose from, as well as many other attractions. Beginning in May for the 2010 season, Wiggles Water World will open for all the little Wiggles fans. There is something for every age and thrill level. Wild Adventures’ Splash Island: This park opens for its season on April 10th, earlier than all the other water parks in Georgia. It is connected to Wild Adventures the theme park, and is the perfect way to cool off. It offers a variety of slides and pools, a wave pool with man made surf, and a lazy river. The best deal for guests is the season pass to both parks. For ten dollars more than regular admission, guests have access to all parks all season long, in addition to admission to concerts festivals, and discounts to other attractions and select theme parks. Summer Waves: This 11 acre water park is conveniently located on Jekyll Island. It is the perfect addition to any summer vacation to the Georgia Isles. It is open for the summer season beginning on May 8th and operates Monday thru Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The park has all the amenities and facilities that guests would expect and at a reasonable price. The best deal available is either a Season Passes for a family of 6 at $249.99, or the two day ticket which is $24.95 and can be used on non-consecutive days within a certain time period. Splash in the Boro: This park is located in Statesboro, Ga. It offers all the normal attractions such as slides, a lazy river, and a kiddie pool, but it also offers a lane and therapy pool that is heated and open year round. Splash in the Boro is budget friendly with the regular ticket price starting at $7.00 and the season pass at $59.99. There is free parking offered to all park guests. Park re-opens for the summer season on May 22nd. Chattahoochee Rapids Beach and Water Park: This park is located at Lake Lanier Islands Resort and opens on May 15th for the summer season. Its hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday thru Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Guests are able to experience Georgia’s largest wave pool as well as dozens of other slides and attractions.
