10 Easy Super Bowl Snacks

I am married to a football-lovin’ man. So I’ve had plenty of experiences to watch football fanatics in their hype during Super Bowl Sunday. Combine adrenaline, endorphins, testosterone, and a huge TV, and you have the need for food. But with the amount of food sometimes needed, easy snacks are a must.

Easy Super Bowl Snack #1 : Lit’l Smokies

If you have a crockpot, this might be the easiest snack to prepare. Simply toss a package or two of Lit’l Smokies in the crockpot (or a regular pot on the stove top) and mix in your choice of sauce. You can use BBQ sauce, Ketchup, Spicy Hot Wings Sauce, or teriyaki sauce. Brown sugar is often added to BBQ and Ketchup sauces.

Easy Superbowl Snack #2 : Nachos, Casserole Style

Layer tortilla chips, cooked (and drained) ground beef or turkey, cheese, salsa, tomato sauce, corn, and refried beans in a casserole dish. Bake in a 400 degrees F oven for about 20 minutes.

Easy Super Bowl Snack #3 : Chips/Crackers and Dip

Guacamole Dip: Mash two peeled avocados in a bowl. Add 3/4 cups of sour cream and 3/4 cups of salsa. Stir in black pepper, cumin, and garlic powder. Chill for half an hour.

Been and Cheese Dip: Heat up a can or two of chili beans and add Velveeta Cheese to taste. Stir until the Velveeta is melted and the dip is hot. To bump up the spicy factor, add a chopped jalapeno.

Ranch Spinach Dip: Mix together 1/4 cup of ranch and 1 cup of sour cream. Stir in 1 package (about 10 oz) of frozen spinach that has been thawed and drained. To add more texture and flavor, add some chopped yellow, red, or jalapeno pepper.

Layered Taco Dip: Cover the bottom of a low casserole dish with refried beans mixed with taco seasoning. Put on a layer of sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and shredded lettuce. Layer on diced tomatoes and then shredded cheese. Sprinkle sliced olives on top.

Easy Super Bowl Snack #4: Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Prepare meatballs by mixing ground turkey or beef with an egg, chopped onion, and pepper. Form into small balls.

Mix together 9oz of grape jelly and a 12 oz bottle of chili sauce. Pour into a slow cooker and heat until warm. Place the meatballs into the sauce and cook on low for 1 1/2 hours

Easy Super Bowl Snack #5: Trail Mix, Chex Mix, or Other Party Mixes

You can mix and match peanuts, baking chips (chocolate, white chocolate, butterscotch), candy, breakfast cereal, pretzels, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and/or cheese crackers (such as gold fish or Cheez-Its) to your liking.

Easy Super Bowl Snack #6: Potato Skins

Bake potatoes until tender. When the potatoes are cool enough to handle, slice in half lengthwise and scoop out the middle. Save the middle for another time. Put the skins on a greased baking sheet and sprinkle on some olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder. Bake for 5-7 minutes in a 450 degrees F oven until the skins are beginning to crisp. Put some shredded cheese and chopped *cooked* bacon (or bacon bits) on the skins and bake until the cheese is melted.

Easy Super Bowl Snack #7: Chicken Quesadillas

Put a tablespoon of oil on a Frying pan and place a tortilla in the pan. Put on some shredded cheese, chopped peppers, and cooked shredded chicken. Top with another tortilla. Cook until the bottom tortilla is beginning to crisp and flip. Do the same on the other side. If you want to simplify it even further, you can microwave the quesadillas.

Melt 3/4 cups of peanut butter and 1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips in a sauce pan over the lowest heat possible. Stir constantly until smooth. Pour over peanut butter/ graham cracker mixture and chill for at least an hour. When chocolate is solid again, cut into squares.

Easy Super Bowl Snack #9: Pineapple Teriyaki Kabobs
