10 Best Lady Gaga Songs

Lady Gaga is adored world-wide for her upbeat music, glamorous style, and sense of fashion. She burst on to the music scene in 2007, at the age of 21, and sky-rocketed to the top. Her debut album, The Fame, won six Grammy Awards, including Best Electronic/Dance Album and Best Dance Recording. She released her second album, The Fame Monster, in 2009.

Lady Gaga’s 2010 Monster Ball tour sold out in major cities (New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Toronto) the first day of ticket sales. So, if you were going to her concert, which songs would you want to hear? I think Lady Gaga’s 10 best songs are:

1. Bad Romance (Lady Gaga, The Fame Monster, 2009). If you don’t recognize the title right away, it’s probably because you think it’s called “The Rah-Rah Song”. Now you know it, right? “Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah! Roma-Roma-ma-ah! Ga-ga-ooh-la-la!” It might not make a ton of sense, but wow, this song is a ton of fun! That’s why it’s my number one pick!

2. Poker Face (Lady Gaga, The Fame, 2008). The words are really catchy and repetitive: “Mum mum mum mah, P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face. Mum mum mum mah, P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face”. Poker Face came first, and Bad Romance is so much like it that it was a great follow up! Between the two of them, Poker Face is a really close second.

3. Just Dance (Lady Gaga, The Fame, 2008). This was her first big, really break-out hit. This one goes “Just dance. Gonna be okay. Da-doo-doo-doo. Just dance. Spin that record babe. Da-doo-doo-doo. Just dance. Gonna be okay. Duh-duh-duh-duh. Dance. Dance. Dance. Just dance….”, and guess what! You can’t hear it without wanting to dance!

4. Beautiful, Dirty, Rich (Lady Gaga, The Fame, 2008) This song has a sexy beat that makes you want to move to it. The lyrics (once again) are pretty repetitive: “Bang, bang. We’re beautiful and dirty rich….” But I guess that’s part of Lady Gaga’s appeal- It doesn’t take much to feel make you feel like you know the song.

5. Fashion (Lady Gaga, Confessions of a Shopaholic Soundtrack, 2009). Another sexy song! It grabs you right from the beginning. I like when she sings, “Fashion. Don’t you wanna see these clothes on me?”. It’s so catchy- I’ll probably end up singing it all day now!

6. Boys, Boys, Boys (Lady Gaga, The Fame, 2008) Not surprisingly, the chorus is “Boys, boys, boys,” but it’s not the chorus that has the most appeal in this song (although the part were it goes “We love them!” is cool). I actually like the whole song here, especially the way she paints a picture with the words- like “making out under the bleachers” something else and “retro sneakers”.

7. Eh, Eh, Eh, Nothing Else I Can Say (Lady Gaga, The Fame, 2008) This is a bit of a departure for Lady Gaga, and I think it displays a little more of her musical depth. I like the way she comes across as soft and tough at the same time.

8. Paparrazzi (Lady Gaga. The Fame, 2008) “Follow you until you love me.” I like this song because it’s a good one to sing along to, especially in the car! You can bop while you’re sitting down, like when you’re behind the wheel of the car. Road trip music! (PS- My teenage son thinks this should be way higher on the list.)

9. Disco Heaven (Lady Gaga, Disco Heaven, 2009) You gotta love Disco Heaven! I realize that most of Lady Gaga’s fans weren’t around for the heydays of disco, which makes me realize that Lady Gaga wasn’t even born then either! But, anyway, now you know why disco was so popular in the ’70’s!

10. Telephone (Lady Gaga, The Fame Monster, 2009). The beginning of these reminds me of vintage Queen, and the “stop calling” part is so reminiscent of Debbie Harry, it’s like I”m having a late-70’s flashback! (But in a good way.) The only thing that snaps me out of it is her saying, “I cannot text you with that drink in my hand.
