Women’s Hairstyle Trends for 2010

Hairstyle Trends, Long Hairstyles, Short Hairstyle, Summer Hair Styles

Basic women’s haircuts for 2010 are easy to create and maintain. These cuts can be done by any trained hairstylist who can do layering to specifications upon the request of the client, plus the styling. Hairstyle trends for 2010 for both short hair and long hair appear below:

Short Hairstyles

Short bobs that were popular for this year get a new look for 2010, cut slightly shorter, and styled in the fashion of what was once called the “Italian Haircut” of the early 1950s. The short hair here is layered and curled at the ends with a curling iron, but not turned all the way up to the scalp to form a ringlet. Once the curls cool from the hot iron, they are combed out, then blow-dried with a round brush to give the hair some volume.

Another short hairstyle involves the very short bob, with styling gel applied to the tips, and blow-dried in an upwards fashion. Once the gel dries, the effect is similar to a punk hairstyle. Hair that stands out too far can be brushed in a backward manner to create a softer look.

For an evening look, style the short hair with a round hairbrush and blow-dry it to give it some body. Use a rattail comb to section off some hair starting at the hairline, and lightly back comb it, then use some hairspray to keep the hair in place. Repeat the procedure with another section of hair behind the first one.

Long Hairstyles

Long hair can be cut in layers, with the front hairs being cut slightly longer than bangs, and swept off to the side of the forehead. The hair is blow-dried using a round brush at the bottoms of each layer to produce a soft swing as the woman walks.

A different look for long hair is to have it cut straight across, which looks best with thick hair, and have a part in the middle instead of off to the side. With a curling iron, only curl the absolute base of the hair framing the face near the forehead. Then with a hairbrush, brush the curl towards the crown of the head. This will keep the hair off of the face. The style is easy to maintain for the woman with a busy daily schedule.

Long hair with an even cut can also be French braided, with a fabric covered elastic used to hold the braid in place.
