Ice Wine, New York Attractions, Upstate New York, Wine Cellar, Wine Storage

I have always loved wine tasting and the different and unique vineyards all over the United States. Upstate New York is no exception. They have some beautiful wineries with tours and different wine tasting adventures to enjoy. The following are few wineries not to be missed while visiting New York.

Hunt Country Vineyards – This beautiful vineyard in Branchport, NY has informal tours of their vineyards and their wine storage and casks. They have tours on a hay wagon where they will drive you through to see where their delicious wines are created. The unique thing about this specific vineyard is that they not only have a selection of Chardonnays, Rieslings, and Vignols, but they also have an ice wine which is rare to find in a state side vineyard. Ice wines are almost like a cordial, excessively sweet and so delicious. They are open May through October and also during the Christmas season when they light everything up, which is a great holiday tradition.

Glenora Wine Cellars – This wine cellar/vineyard is in Dundee, NY in the Finger Lakes area. They have been producing wine since 1977 and have a large array of reds, whites, and blush wines. They have formal tours available where they even have presentations on the making of the wine and how it is stored. You can of course also do tastings so you can find the right wine for your pallet. This wine cellar in upstate New York is great because it is open year round allowing you to visit at anytime you choose.

They will go into the history of Greyton H Taylor the one who created this vineyard and into the different wine selections. The produce of 60 different wines annually in different intervals. This vineyard and museum is locate in Hammondsport, New York. If you are looking for a big affair for your wine tasting this is more your style.

Merritt Estate Winery – This winery that is located in Forestville, NY actually holds a wine festival annually in upstate New York. They have wine tasting and tours if you would like one. Their winery is beautiful with an area specifically made for weddings and receptions, they even have a picnic area with a pavilion. This winery is open year round for wine lovers. They carry an array of white and red wines, the choices vary due to seasons and demand.
