“Wilson and Ditch: Digging America” Themed Party Favors for Kids

Holiday Turkey, Make Candy

Are your children glued to the television every time an episode of “Wilson and Ditch: Digging America” comes on? Has watching the show helped them take a greater interest in geography and travel? If so, you may want to consider throwing them a Wilson and Ditch themed party this year. Even though there are precious few Wilson and Ditch party supplies available on the market today, the theme is still executable. You just have to get a bit creative. With that said, here are a few of my Wilson and Ditch party favor ideas to help you get started:

Earth Bouncing Balls

In my opinion, Earth Bouncing Balls would make super “Wilson and Ditch: Digging America” themed party favors. After all, the show does focus on the main characters’ travels across America. The bouncing balls that I am familiar with look like miniature globes only they are made from rubber. You can typically buy the Earth Bouncing Balls through party supply shops for $16 a dozen.

Travel Journal Kit

Depending on your budget, you may want to give each guest a homemade travel journal kit. Items to include in the kit are blank journals, earth shaped erasers, earth themed pencils, globe shaped pencil sharpeners and maps of the United States. Most of the items mentioned may be purchased through stationary supply stores and party supply shops for a modest fee. As far as the maps go, you may want to think about printing them with your home computer. Based on my experience, there are many different websites that offer free downloadable maps of the United States. Among them are Sprout Online, Coloring Castle and USA Printables.

Wilson and Ditch Edibles

Would you rather give your guests an edible gift? Well then, you may want to think about investing in a variety of geography related candy molds. Believe it or not, there are companies that make candy molds in the shape of each state. Some candy related companies even sell chocolate molds that are capable of creating a complete map of the United States. One such company is A-J Winbeckler Enterprises. In most instances, each candy mold is apt to cost you $2 to $5 each. If you do decide to invest in the candy molds, I’d suggest that you consider expanding upon the theme. One way to do that is to attach gift tags to the candies that list fun facts about each state. You could use the fun facts that are talked about in assorted “Wilson and Ditch: Digging America” episodes or uncover your own. Personally, I’d suggest using some of the facts presented in the show’s episodes. That way, the kids will be better able to appreciate the information given.
