When you go out to your local pet store it usually is not the number one question you think to ask the person behind the desk. What’s in my cat litter? It is also not something you think to do when you look at the bag of act litter you are about to buy. It never crosses one’s mind that cat litter can and is so dangerous for a woman who is pregnant to breathe in. Not only is the clay type full of harmful pollutants but the other types that are usually bought at the pet store. The feline pine is about the safest type of cat litter that one can buy because it says it contains no bi products that can make anyone sick.

Any type of urine should be kept away from a woman who is pregnant. No matter how far along you are in your pregnancy you should make a clear point to stay away from any type of urine. Not only cat but dog and small mammal. Urine contains high amounts of metals and other substances that can make a woman who is pregnant very sick which in return will cause her baby to become ill. Cat urine has been tested though to be the worst urine to come into contact with if you are in fact pregnant. There are no clear reasons why cat urine is the worst, it is possibly because they excrete high amounts of metals that make all humans sick if you come into contact with them on a regular basis.
What you should do if you own a cat and are pregnant:
The first thing you should keep in mind is that you can not breathe any of these pollutants in no matter what. If you are the only one home than you might need to hire someone to clean your cat’s litter box. If you live with friends or family members then you need to make sure that they are willing to help you take care of your cat until you are not pregnant anymore. It is not a problem for you to feed and bathe your cat but it is a problem to clean their litter box and deal with them when they are sick. If you are in the middle of your pregnancy and you decide that you want to purchase a cat it might be a good idea to wait until your baby is born and a little older in age before you purchase that new pet. If a cat is a must than you need to always make sure that your partner or a friend is willing to help you take on this new task.
