To volunteer at the Blank Park Zoo, you must be at least 13 years old. They have a program for adult and teenagers. Some programs are strictly for adults to do. Some of the positions available are Education Docents (you’ll be providing information to zoo visitors about the animals, Guest Services (you’ll be helping guests and working in the gift shop), Horticulture (working with plants), Kenny’s Crew (painting, carpentry, etc), and working at special events. As a Heritage Carousel of Des Moines, you will be greeting visitors to the Carousel, taking tokens, help with the running of the ride and maintenance, shining brass, sweeping, refilling the soda machine, wiping off fence and benches and more.
