At Blue Water Sailing School, Ft. Lauderdale you can advance as far as you want to go in the certification process. And it is a very intensive course. It in includes a week long trip around Ft. Lauderdale and other locations. You get the full sailing experience, even with the beginners sailing lessons. They run from Saturday to Friday and you will be certified when you pass the basic course which is, Course A – Basic where you learn the basics of sailing and coastal cruising in daytime conditions, The next progression is Course A Plus – Bareboat Chartering. When you complete this course of sailing lessons, you are certified to charter a boat. Course A Plus Cat is the basic course with addition lesson on a catamaran, Course B – Intermediate expands on what you learned in Course A. C – Advanced Coastal Cruising Here you get to navigate to the Bahamas and back again. Course D – Celestial Navigation is a two day clinic where you learn to navigate on the open ocean by the sun, moon, water and planets and if you really, really want to take the ultimate sailing course and be about to captain a boat up to 50′ then take Course O – Offshore Passagemaking. Castle Harbor Sailing School in Coral Gables is just over 30 miles from Fort Lauderdale, and easy pleasant drive and they have a great program of sailing lessons. Their learn to sail program can be completed in one weekend and you will be certified for day sailing. If you want to continue on, you can take the basic cruising and bare boat cruising courses. And if you are really serious about sailing, you can take lessons to be certified to race, Performance Courses and the Saturday Race Clinic. They also have a two week summer camp program for ages 10 – 15. And a program for young people 13-15 who have some sailing experience.
