Just the idea of being able to walk up the side of what looks like sheer rock gets some people adrenalin flowing and if you are in the Los Angeles area, there are places where you can take rock climbing lessons and satisfy that hunger. All of the instructors are certified with plenty of experience. When you contact these rock climbing schools, ask about more than the lessons. Find out just what you have to bring to your lessons. Some provide lunch, some do not for instance. Find out if there are refunds in case of rain. Or can you make up a lesson, in other words get all the facts up front. Joshua Tree Rock Climbing School, Los Angeles gives rock climbing lessons in a very centrally located, and beautiful location, Joshua Tree National Park, and easy 2-3 hour drive from Los Angeles. They have two types of lessons, one day rock climbing seminars-rock climbing seminar one is for the beginner. Combine that one, which meets on Saturday with the second seminar which meets on Sunday and you have made your own weekend rock climbing package. You can also take these on some scheduled weekdays. Sierra South in the Los Angeles area will take you in a different direction for your rock climbing lessons, in the Sequoia National Forest to be exact. Their Rock Climbing Adventure is a one day trip and participants can be as young as 14. They start you out climbing some big boulders, so you can get the real feel of rock climbing, without getting that high up on your first try. Extreme Things, Los Angeles, has rock climbing lessons in various locations in the Los Angeles/ Southern California area. The locations change, depending on the season. Rock climbing lessons will take place in Idyllwild National Park from June to September and in Joshua Tree National Park from October to April. Their lessons are for one full day and climbers can be as young as 14, but under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The lessons can take place any day, but they must have three participants. IF you can get a couple of friends as adventurous as you are, you can all go together and make sure that there will be a group on the day you want. They will also give private rock climbing lessons.
