Weight Loss Teas – Do They Really Work?

Herbal Teas

You may have heard about the latest hype in the dieting world, weight loss teas. I’m not talking your favourite English tea you have for breakfast but exotic leaves and herbal teas. Some claim that just by drinking these teas you can enhance weight loss. But do they actually work?

This article will explain a little bit about what you need to know about weight loss teas before you buy them. It is important to understand what you are buying and if they actually work before starting to use them. You may be surprised by what you find.

# 1 – Which teas?

Firstly it is important to know which teas to buy. There are varieties that claim to aid loss weight but some of the most popular. These include green, pu-erh, Okinawan and Porangaba teas.

All these weight loss teas have been seen to be used by well known celebrities like Madonna, Robbie Williams and Victoria Beckham. It is the herbs and ingredients that they contain which some are saying help to loss weight .

# 2 – What do weight loss teas do?

There are lots of benefits (not just loss weight ) that many claim you gain when you drink these teas.

-The teas have high levels of antioxidants which can slow aging and improve vitality

-Antioxidants may also have disease fighting properties

-Herbal teas really aid and improve your digestive system

-LDL cholesterol levels show an improvement when drinking the teas regularly

-May help to prevent strokes

-Boosts metabolism and might increase calorie loss in the body

As you can see from the list there are a lot of general health benefits. But most of them are not relevant to loss weight.

# 3 – Limited evidence

Most experts actually do not support these weight loss teas and there is in fact very limited evidence to support their claims that they aid loss weight. Many say that when people do see results it is because they are switching their usual milky, sugary teas for calorie-free herbal teas.

A regular tea with one scoop of sugar and a drop of semi-skimmed milk contains roughly 38 calories. So 4 cups a day mounts to 152 calories.

# 4 – To use or not to use?

Ultimately there is not enough evidence available to solely use these teas to lose weight. However it is possible that they do work and it has just not been investigated enough.

I don’t see the harm in using them as part of a diet plan. They are a lower fat alternative to regular tea. Also it has been proven they have other advantages like helping lower the risk of health problems and providing healthy minerals. If you do try them you should drink 3-4 glasses a day for them to be effective.

There is no harm in trying weight loss teas but don’t expect to drop many pounds. For this you really do need to be on a professional weight loss plan and use them alongside dieting and exercising. If you would like more information you can check out www.permanentdietplan.com
