Getting married is a once in a lifetime event. It is something that every bride wants to remember forever, and wants her guests to remember. She wants her wedding to be a standout. One way to do that is with new trends in wedding buffets.

The intimate, sit down dinner remains popular in 2011, but there are many other types of wedding buffets that are becoming trendy. Every couple should look these wedding buffet options and consider including one or two into the wedding reception.

Most wedding receptions start off with a cocktail hour while the bride and groom take pictures with their wedding party. As a nice addition to the wedding’s signature cocktail, a couple can add an appetizer buffet. There should be a minimum of 5-7 different appetizers on the buffet. They should be able to be eaten within two bites and should not require a fork. Just because a server doesn’t have to carry around a tray doesn’t mean they should be more difficult for a wedding guest to eat. Your guests are still standing and mingling. It is a wise idea to have several stations set up so that guests do find themselves standing in line for long. Each station can be themed or the appetizer stations can be the same just to make it easier for guests.

Another wedding buffet trend that has been around for a couple of years is the candy buffet. A wedding candy buffet is a whimsical touch at any wedding. Candy buffets at a wedding not only offer a unique way to offer dessert other than cake, but make for a cute wedding favor. Different types of boxes and bags can be available for guests to use to take home their treats.

The candy table can offer several types of one candy (chocolates, for example) or offer a variety of different types of candy in the same color to match the wedding party. The bride and groom may also just opt for a variety of items to give their wedding a Willy Wonka feel.

Taking the wedding candy buffet to the next level, the couple may move to a more unique dessert buffet. A buffet full of cheesecakes, different types of cookies, or brownies would complement the wedding cake nicely and can replace the groom’s cake. Some brides are even forgoing wedding cake to have a cupcake table filled with a variety of different flavored cupcakes with several displayed in tiers to mimic the look of a wedding cake.

A new trend in smaller, casual weddings is a drink buffet full of non-alcoholic drinks; it is still better to leave the adult beverages to a bartender for liability reasons. A variety of lemonades, mocktails, and punches displayed in different types of containers can give guests the impression of being offered with every possible choice while freeing up lines at the bar.

The last up and coming wedding buffet trend is groom centered-the man-cave wedding buffet. Grooms are given a flower-free corner where there will be trays of cigars, Playstations set-up for play, or even roulette. The sky is the limit when it comes to honoring the groom at the wedding!
