Ways to Store Stuffed Animals

Stuffed Animals

A stuffed animal can become a child’s best friend, but when many plush pets are accumulated over the years they can begin taking over a bedroom. It is easy to decorate with stuffed animals by displaying them on suspended nets and shelves, but they cannot all be used for decoration. Consider the following ways to store stuffed animals that cannot be parted with, and give them a place to stay that is out of the way.

Place a Hamper in a Corner Behind the Bed

It is easy to store stuffed animals in out-of-the-way places, and a corner of the bedroom is the ideal location. Look for a decorative pop-up hamper such as a frog, a ladybug, or a dog. The mouth of the pop-up character serves as the lid, and it is a cute addition to a child`s bedroom. Place the bed in a corner, and put the hamper in the empty space behind the bed. This is a great way to keep stuffed animals since they can still be located and used for play in a matter of minutes.

I placed an oversized pop-up frog hamper in the corner in back of my daughter’s bed. She has dozens of plush animals, and we were running out of areas to store them in her small bedroom. She was only willing to part with a few of her fluffy friends. The stuffed animals she plays with most often are arranged on her bed during the day, and the others are in the hamper and out of the way.

Hang a Series of Lightweight Mesh Hampers on a Wall

Lightweight mesh hampers are made to hold dirty clothes and other fabrics, but they also provide an ideal way to store stuffed animals. Since they are light, they can be mounted on a wall to save floor space. Mount two or more lightweight colorful mesh hampers, one above the other, and fill them with stuffed animals. The hampers can be used as hoops to catch and store stuffed animals, and the kids will enjoy putting them away.

Use a Heavy Grocery Store Display Container

Browse the aisles of almost any grocery store and you will discover many different types of disposable display containers. Many of these containers are recycled and thrown away, and they are often free for the taking. Ask a local grocery store to save empty display containers of interest, and use them to store stuffed animals.

My sister found a big plastic M & M candy display case at a local grocery store, and it was free for the taking once the store no longer needed it. The display case is colorful and really very cute, and provides the ideal place to store and display her son’s stuffed animals.

Vacuum Pack Plush Pets and Store them Beneath the Bed

If a child has a collection of stuffed animals they do not use but cannot part with, consider buying storage bags that can be vacuum sealed. Airless bags of compacted stuffed animals will take up far less space. Store the bags of vacuum-packed stuffed animals beneath a bed or on a closet shelf. When the usual plush pets become boring, pull out the vacuum-packed bag. This is a great way to store stuffed animals while taking up very little space.
