It is the middle of July. The temperature outside is super hot. All you want to do is get into a pool and sit. Maybe you want to float down the lazy river. Maybe you would like to go down a fast water slide. Well, if you are in Roanoke, Virginia, where can you go? The answer is, not many places, however, this article will give some suggestions on places to go to enjoy a water park near Roanoke, Virginia.

The closest place to go is our wonderful, new Green Ridge Recreation Center. Yes, this is a gym on the inside, however, there is a wonderful pool with a lazy river, water slide, laps to swim, awesome hot tub, and an incredible children’s water park All of this is just inside. Opening Memorial Day Weekend will be the outdoor, Splash Valley. It has 2 really tall water slides. One drops you into ‘the Mixing Bowl’. It has a current river, leisure pool, and the spray ground. We are really excited about the opening of this. I am at the Rec Center almost every day; so it is really neat watching them finish building the outdoor part. The indoor water park is included with your monthly membership, however, the outdoor water park is not. The price is $7 for adults over the age of 55, $8 for children 0-17, and $9 for adults 18-54. Roanoke County residents get a $2 discount. Splash Valley will be open daily from 12-7 starting Memorial Day through Labor Day. If you are a Roanoke County resident, the park opens are 11 for you. Not too far away in Montgomery County, Virginia is the Frog Pond. It is nothing more than public pool for the county, but children love it, especially young children. Most of the water is 3 feet or less. There are 2 water slides for older children, however, most of the pool is for young people. The pool is open from 11-6 Monday-Saturday and 12-6 on Sunday. Babies under the age of 1 are admitted for free. Toddlers 2-4 are $2, ages 5-54 are $4, and adults age 55 and up are admitted for $2. Head up the road to 1822 Resort Drive McGaheysville, Virginia to the Massanutten Water Park. This is a much larger water park both indoor and outdoor. They have the Pipeline to go ‘surfing’ , a Frog Pond for the little ones with water up to12 inches, Blue Ridge Rapids lazy river, water slides, and a hot tub. It is so much fun. With all of this adventure is a higher price tag. Under the age of 2 enjoys the water park for free. Observers can watch the fun for $10. General admission for adults (or anyone over 42 inches) is $38, under 42 inches is $26. The hours to vary with the month of the year. Outdoor 11-7 Memorial Day-labor Day. As you can tell there are really not any big water parks near Roanoke, Virginia, however, you can have a great time in the water on the up coming warm days. If all else fails, set up the sprinkler and play in your own yard for free.
