Volunteer Opportunities in Huntington Beach, California #1: Library

The Huntington Beach Public Library is located at 7111 Talbert Avenue Huntington Beach, CA 92648. You can volunteer at the main branch or at other library branches in Huntington. Some of the duties you can do is shelving, clerical, repairing books, assisting at book sales, helping in the children’s area, working at special events, etc. You have to fill out an application and attend an orientation before you can volunteer. The Huntington Beach Tree Society needs volunteers to plant trees on Saturdays. They usually plant 20 to 50 trees at a time. If that sounds more physically demanding then you can do, they also are looking for volunteers for their office. The SPCA is located at 9582 Hamilton Ave. #164 Huntington Beach, CA 92646. If you enjoy being around animals, you may want to consider volunteering here. The SPCA has four volunteer programs. The first one is Canine Literacy. This program helps low income grade school children improve their reading. Kindness Kids Program Volunteers bring their pets to classrooms to teach children to be nice to animals. PAWS Volunteers bring animals to hospitals, nursing homes and other medical facilities. The animals help cheer up the patients they visit. You do have to have training and your pet will have to be evaluated before meeting patients. Last is Friends of the Orange County SPCA. Volunteer Opportunities in Huntington Beach, California #4: Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center

The Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center (also known as WWCC) needs volunteers that aren’t afraid of getting their hands dirty. Some of the duties that you will be doing is cleaning animal areas, feeding live prey to animals, laundry and more. Each volunteer is required to volunteer at least five hours a week. If you’re a dog owner, you’re probably considerate to others and pick up your dog’s droppings when you take your pet for a walk. But sadly many people do not pick up their dogs excrement. That’s why the Huntington Dog Beach needs volunteers to help clean up the dog beach. On certain days, you can pick up cleaning utensils from three representatives that will be at Tower 20, 22 and 24.
