If you like root beer but have never had Virgil’s Root Beer, you have been missing out on the richest, creamiest root beer in the world. In this review, I would like to point out the reasons why Virgil’s Root Beer is my favorite beverage.
Virgil’s Root Beer is manufactured by Reed’s Inc. in Los Angeles California. Its CEO and Founder, Chris Reed traveled around the world in an effort to locate the highest quality herbs and spices for this recipe. As a result, spices are imported from various different countries. Some of the ingredients are vanilla, clove, nutmeg, pimento, anise, cinnamon, molasses, and many more. Once the ingredients are brewed the old-fashioned way, they are flash pasteurized. This is a process, which uses high-heat to destroy bacteria and results in the product being safe for consumption as well as having a longer shelf life. All measures are taken to ensure that the product is as natural and as safe as possible for consumers.
Virgil’s Root Beer can be found at your local Whole Foods Market, which is where I normally buy it. It comes in a 12oz-bottle, 12oz-can, and one-gallon size container. The price is reasonable considering that it is all-natural – $1.65 for the 12oz-bottle. Other stores that carry it are Safeway, Kroger, Wild Oats, and Costco to name a few. It is sold in supermarkets nationwide and in Canada.
How good is it? It is so good that it won the “Outstanding Beverage” award in 1994, 1996, and 1997 at the International Fancy Food and Confection shows. The American Taste Award also went to Reed’s Inc. for the manufacturing of this marvelous tasting drink in 2001.
I did not even know that all-natural drinks even existed until about a year ago. My husband and I were looking for something “healthy” to drink and came across Virgil’s Root Beer. I was hesitant to buy it since I did not want to waste my money in case I did not like it. I was pleasantly surprised at the rich, creamy flavor. I have always liked root beer but this was even better than what I was used to drinking. The best part of all is that it is completely natural – does not contain any artificial flavors or preservatives. When you are enjoying it with your meal, you do not have to have any guilty feelings because you know that you are not ingesting anything harmful or toxic. We have introduced it to some of our friends and they have all enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is striving to avoid chemicals yet, would like to enjoy a refreshing, great tasting beverage now and then. Even if you do not like root beer, you might be surprised to find out that you have acquired a newfound taste. Try it; you’ll like it!
