Vermont Maid Pancake Syrup

Flapjacks, Pancake Syrup, Syrup, Vermont

When I was recently shopping for maple flavored pancake syrup at a Hartford, Connecticut area supermarket, I happened to notice that Vermont Maid Syrup was on sale. Vermont Maid is the brand of maple flavored pancake syrup that was usually served in our family home, when I was young. I’ve always considered this brand of pancake syrup to be one of the best brands of pancake syrup sold in New England supermarkets.

After seeing that the sale price of Vermont Maid Syrup was less expensive than many of the other brands of pancake syrup, I did not hesitate in purchasing a bottle of this syrup.

Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is one food writer’s product review of Vermont Maid pancake Syrup.

Size
The net weight of the container of Vermont Maid Syrup being reviewed here is 24 fluid ounces. This container holds approximately twelve 60 ml (1/4 cup) servings of syrup. In physical size, the container is fairly tall and requires roughly the same amount of space as a large bottle of catsup in one’s refrigerator.

Price
The sale price that I paid for one 24 ounce container of Vermont Maid Syrup at a Hartford, Connecticut area supermarket was $2.50.

In my humble opinion, this price is very reasonable, considering the great flavor, number of servings and overall high quality that this product offers.

Consistency / Texture
The consistency offered by Vermont Maid pancake Syrup is not too thick and not too thin. The syrup clings well to pancakes, waffles and any other type of food it is applied to. The syrup pours easily from the container, but it is also easy to pour out too much, if you squeeze the container too hard.

Taste / Flavor
This pancake syrup really does taste good. Although it is not maple syrup per se, the maple flavor in this syrup is quite pleasing. When poured atop a stack of flapjacks, French toast or waffles, this product really shines.

Truth be told, every time I’ve used some of the Vermont Maid Syrup, I have also tasted it plain, straight-from-the-bottle, because it is so tasty. This syrup also tastes great on top of ice cream and pudding, as a sauce and marinade ingredient, a meat, seafood and poultry glaze and as an ingredient in many other dishes.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Vermont Maid Syrup is a very flavorful, reasonably priced pancake syrup. Available at many food retailers on America’s east coast, this syrup is particularly popular in the New England states.
