UTZ Cheese Curls

Cheese Balls

A few days ago, I purchased an 8.5 ounce bag of UTZ brand Cheese Curls. I am a regular consumer of various types of UTZ potato chips, but had never tried their cheese curls until purchasing that bag. As with every other UTZ brand product I have eaten, their cheese curls are a high – quality and delicious snack item.

UTZ brand snack products, including their Cheese Curls are reasonably – priced and available at supermarkets, convenience stores, pharmacies, warehouse club stores and other food retailers across the United States, with a large presence on America’s east coast. I am so impressed with these cheese curls, that I have decided to review them.

Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of UTZ brand Cheese Curls.

Size
UTZ Cheese Curls are available in one ounce bags, 4.50 ounce bags and 8.5 ounce bags. The one ounce bag contains one serving, the 4.50 ounce bag contains seven servings and the 8.5 ounce bag contains 10 servings.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 1 ounce bag of UTZ Cheese Curls at Hartford, Connecticut area food retailers is approximately $0.35c. The regular retail price charged for the 4.50 ounce bag of these cheese curls at these retailers is roughly $1 and the regular retail price of the 8.5 ounce bag of UTZ Baked Cheese Curls at Hartford stores is approximately $1.49.

Texture
The texture of UTZ Cheese Curls can best be described in three words : light, airy and crunchy. The texture of these cheese curls is not necessarily much different from that of most other brands of cheese curls, but the pieces are generally uniform in size and crunchiness. These cheese curls are not as hard and crispy as most potato chips, but they do provide a nice, crunchy texture that is quite satisfying.

Taste / Flavor
Through the years, I have eaten many different brands of cheese curls, cheese puffs and cheese balls, all of which are essentially the same product presented in different shapes. Most of the brands that I’ve eaten have tasted largely the same, which is not a bad thing.

UTZ Cheese Curls do not stray far from the traditional cheese curl formula, but like every other UTZ product I’ve eaten, their great flavor, pleasing texture and overall high quality places them in the Above Average category.

The cheese flavor in UTZ Cheese Curls is very mellow and pleasant. The orange curls that I consumed earlier this week possessed an addictive quality that made it very hard for me to stop eating them, once I started. I like the fact that just the right amount of cheese / seasoning is applied to these cheese curls. Some brands of cheese curls contain too much cheese, which produces a chalky, overpowering taste.

The flavor of UTZ Cheese Curls really shines when they accompany any type of sandwich. Their light and airy, yet crunchy texture makes them an ideal sandwich companion. In the past week, I ate these cheese curls with turkey, peanut butter and bologna sandwiches and the cheese curls enhanced each dining experience.

Overall Rating
All things considered, UTZ Cheese Curls are a very tasty and fun – to – eat snack item. While they are similar in size, appearance and approximate flavor to most other brands of cheese curls, these cheese – flavored snacks are, like all UTZ brand products, definitely a high – quality item. UTZ Cheese Curls are a recommended item by this food writer.
