Unique Summer Camps: Pali Overnight Adventures, Spy Camp and Space Camp

Summer is almost here, and many parents are already trying to decide which summer camp they will send their children to this year. Days of canoing, hiking, horseback riding stretch out ahead of the children who, after years of the same old summer camp, want something a little different this year. Is your daughter a fashion diva or is your son likes to spend his time gazing at the stars why not try a specialty camp such as Fashion Camp or Space Camp? Here is a look at some of the unique summer camps available.

Pali Overnight Adventures

Pali Overnight Adventures in Running Springs, California features seventy-four acres of wilderness within ninety minutes of Los Angeles, San Diego, or Orange County. While Pali Overnight Adventures offer the normal summer camp choices such as Horseback Riding Academy, Leadership, and the Dance Academy they also offer many unique summer camp choices. Campers can chose from spending their summer enjoying camps such as the Culinary Institute, Fashion Design Institute, Hollywood Stunt Camp, Rock Star Camp or Secret Agent Camp.

Camps at Pali Overnight Adventures are designed for children ages nine to sixteen years old, with camps lasting one, two, or four weeks. A one week program is $1535, a two week program is $2995, and a four week program is $5750. If you sign up by February 22nd there is a ten percent Early Bird Discount, and if you sign up by March 21st there is a five percent Early Bird Discount. There is also a five percent discount for siblings. For campers who are sixteen years of age, and wish to participate as a counselor the camp also offers a Counselor in Training Program for a cost of $795.

Space Camp

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama offers a wide variety of Space Camps for the future astronaut in your family. Camps include Parent/Child Weekends for children ages seven to twelve, three or six day Space Camps for children ages nine to eleven, six or eight day Space Academy for youth ages twelve to fourteen, six or eight day Advanced Space Academy for youth ages fifteen to eighteen, and day camps for children ages seven to eleven.

Prices vary depending on the camping program you choose but the Parent/Child weekend is $399, while the Space Camp is $399 for the three day camp and $999 for the six day camp. The Space Academy ranges from $599 to $749 for the six day program and is $1299 for the eight day program, while the Advanced Space Academy ranges from $699 to $849 for the six day program and $1299 for the eight day program.

Spy Camp

Your kids will enjoy training to be future spies at Camp Lohikan in Lake Como, Pennsylvania where they will receive instruction in martial arts, surveillance techniques, code breaking, and undercover maneuvers. With jet skis, four wheelers, and paint balls incorporated into their day of camping your kids will be begging to go back year after year.

The summer at Camp Lohikan is broken up into several sessions. You can choose to spend the entire summer at the camp (June 29th through August 21st), half of the summer there, six weeks, thirteen days, or a one week mini-camp.

The cost for the entire summer ranges from $6600 to $6900 depending on age, a six week session ranges from $5500 to $5850, the half summer sessions range in price from $3350 to $3800, thirteen day sessions range in price from $1750 to $1950, and for the one week mini-camp the price is $800.
