Since the invention of the ventless fireplace alternative, plenty of new models have been born. There are beautiful wood finish models that look like traditional wood burning fireplaces. There are new contemporary models made of stainless steel and glass. But, the best ventless fireplace options are the ones that you can design yourself.
With a little creativity and imagination, you can have the most unique fireplace design anyone has ever seen. I can give you a few examples. But, I really love when people take what I give them to other levels.
In The Wall
You might be a little eerie about an in wall fireplace. But, it has been done. Only building a traditional wood burning fireplace in the wall can cost thousands when you add the chimney and all the structural modifications that need to be made.
With a ventless solution, you can bypass all that expense and actually do it yourself. A perfect place for most homes might be between the living room and the dining room. But if your home isn’t setup that way, then just find the perfect place for yours and knock out a wall.
Do it strategically. Know your dimensions. Drill holes and cut lines. Then, knock that portion of the wall through. Build a hearth and border up the fireplace. Simply place the fireplace insert inside and light your gel fuel. You can probably get this job done in about a day. Start early in the morning and that evening enjoy your in wall fireplace where you can see straight through to the other room and enjoy from both.
In Wall Extension
Some designs take the in wall fireplace a few steps further. Knocking out an entire wall and leaving a column at the end gives you plenty of space for a countertop type structure. A granite countertop finish is nice.
But before you complete that work, make sure you inset shelving below the counter surface. That way, you can install the fireplace insert in the wall so that the fire only shows on the surface of the structure. Now, finish the countertop with the style of your choice and enjoy a nice fire that lights the room with a touch of class.
Center Floor
If you don’t own your home or don’t have permission to make such modifications, then a fireplace in the center of the floor is a nice touch. Use the same design structure as the in wall extension and build yourself a structure that sits in the middle of the floor. The same inset will allow for you to drop the fireplace insert inside and enjoy the fire blazing from the surface. Finish in wood, granite or whatever style you choose. You can probably build a center floor fireplace in a matter of hours.
You can never run out of possibilities. The ventless fireplace solution makes it possible to have a fireplace anywhere you want and in any style you want. Once you have a great idea, make yourself some drawings. Figure out what you and put your idea into motion. There’s nothing simpler and more rewarding.
