Two Best Steak Houses in Texas

Steak Restaurants, West Texas

Texas is a state full of pride, and Texas steaks provides it with some bragging rights. So, if you find yourself in Texas anytime soon, and you have a hankering for a mouth-watering steak, try one of the two best steak restaurants Texas has to offer. Heck, why not try both? You’ll be glad that you did. Here’s what you get when you visit Perini Ranch Steak House and Pappas Bros. Steak House:

Perini Ranch Steak House in Abilene, Texas

Are you looking to dine on some presidential-quality cooking? If so, then dine with Perini Ranch Steak House in Buffalo Gap, Texas. According to Texasmonthly.com, George W. Bush finds himself among the Perini Ranch clientele, and you can eat the very same food by visiting Perini Ranch Steak House in Buffalo Gap, Texas. Here is what you can expect when you visit:

Feeling of seclusion. This place is hard to find because you drive over the railroad track and literally drive down a back road in Buffalo Gap, Texas to find this ranch. Basically, you need to look for a cattle grate and a sign. When you find it, you’ll likely hesitate to drive on in because it seems as if you are driving in on someone’s private property, and you are. Drive on in, though. Shortly, you will see a land clearing and over to your left, just behind some trees, you’ll also see many people walking into a cabin-like building. This is the restaurant. Be ready, though. One of the young ladies will ask you for your reservations, so make sure you call ahead and make some. (You can call 325.572.3339) If you don’t, you might not get to eat because they generally do not have room to honor patrons without reservations. They stay booked.

Lots of good food. On Sunday lunch, in particular, you can eat the best West Texas food you will ever eat. They normally have a buffet full of fried chicken and chicken-fried steak. They lay out a spread of vegetables, and you get all the Texas trimmings, of course. The best thing about this whole meal is their Whisky Bread Pudding. Now, you might think that you’ve had some delicious Whisky Bread Pudding, but you’ve really never eaten this rich dessert until you’ve eaten it here. You can visit Perini Ranch Steak House other days, too, but don’t count on having a lavish Texas buffet, or a buffet at all for that matter. You will have to order off the menu, and the food can sometimes be disappointing, so save yourself some disappointment and take this restaurant up on their Sunday lunch buffet.

Comfortable atmosphere. If you feel like you’re out in the country and with country people, well don’t worry; you are out in the country and dining with country people. West Texans are used to rustic furnishings, and some actually consider such furnishings/décor to be classy, so sit back and enjoy the simplicity that you get when you eat at Perini’s Steak House , but don’t expect the people to be friendly. Yes, West Texans are generally friendly, but this restaurant caters to clientele with money, and you can easily tell it when you enter the building. The help quickly chooses who they show friendliness toward, and the service you receive often depends on whether or not you have a reputation with them as being a regular customer. So, if you want some delicious West Texas food and some comfortable West Texas atmosphere, this is the place to go. If you’re looking for some West Texas friendliness, eat elsewhere.

Pappas Bros. Steak House in Dallas, Texas

Are you hungry for a good Texas steak and have a few dollars to spend? Why not try Pappas Bros. Steak House, located at10477 Lombardy Lane in Dallas, Texas? (This is just off Interstate 35 and Northwest Highway.) This top-of-the-line steak house will deliver up a mean, mouth-watering steak if you have time for them to fix you one. Here’s what you get at Pappas Bros. Steak House in Dallas, Texas:

Melt-in-your-mouth meat. According to the Dallasobserver.com, Pappas Bros. Steak House dry ages their beef. This, in part, seems to be what accounts for the tenderness of the beef. Whatever this steak house does with their beef, you will be one satisfied customer once you sink your teeth into your steak, even with the high prices you’ll have to pay once you’re done dining.

Everything comes at a price, and you often get what you pay for. This is certainly the case at Pappas Bros. Steak House. You pay a hefty price, but you get a high-quality steak for the price you do pay. Just make sure you can afford about $50 per person when you walk into Pappas Bros. Steak House because you won’t get out for much less than that after you tip your server.

Family-size vegetables. When you order your steak, this is all you get for the price you pay: your steak. Yes, Pappas Bros. Steak House does serve some bread with your meal, but they are a bit stingy with it. So, what can you order to eat with your steak? Pappas Bros. Steak House offers vegetables for a large price, which makes you reluctant to spend $8 or so on a vegetable.

What you will find out, though, is that the vegetable orders at Pappas Bros. Steak House serve 2 to 3 people, so you need to only order 1 or 2 vegetables. Unfortunately, the server often fails to tell you this, likely because the more you order in dollar amount, the more the server thinks he/she might get (that is, if you tip according to percentage of the check).

Dimly-lit atmosphere. Pappas Bros. Steak House is dimly lighted and seems romantic when you first walk in, but it’s not. This restaurant is actually pretty noisy, with the servers frequently dropping dishes along the way. So, if you’re looking for a place to spend a quiet evening, choose another restaurant.

Cordial staff. The staff here is cordial, of course. However, the staff, overall, fails to exude the down-home Texas friendliness that you get in a smaller Texas town. The door greeters are quite nice, but the servers give you little time to look at the menu and often stand over you quietly, but impatiently, while you decide what you want to order.

Casual dress. The one super-nice point about Pappas Bros. Steak House is that you will find all types of attire in this restaurant. Customers wear cut-off jeans, suits, dresses, slacks, you name it. It seems that the locals just pop into this restaurant when they just all of a sudden decide that they are hungry for a steak, and they don’t seem to show much concern for what they’re wearing.

* Pappas Bros. Steak House does offer valet parking, but save your money and park yourself. Even the farthest walk from the restaurant is only a short walk.
