The Volturi are a vampire coven living in Volterra, Italy that is regarded as royalty by the rest of the vampires. The Volturi have been in existence for over three thousand years and act as vampire police enforcing the rule that the existence of vampires is kept a secret from humans. The Volturi leaders include Aro, Caius and Marcus. The Volturi leaders and their mates are protected by a group of vampires, chosen for their strength or special abilities, known as the Volturi guard. Twilight: New Moon is to be released in USA on November 20 2009.
Cameron Bright as Alec
Alec is one of the highest ranked Volturi guards. Alec and is twin sister Jane were changed while they were still young by Aro as they were about to be burned at the stake by their village. Alec’s power is the ability to cut off his target’s senses, making them deaf, blind and numb to any feeling he wishes. Alec can target multiple victims at the same time.
Cameron Bright was born on January 26 1993 in Canada. He played the role of Leech in X-Men: The Last Stand and has also had roles in Ultraviolet and Birth where he played alongside Nicole Kidman as the young Sean.
Dakota Fanning as Jane
Jane, the twin sister of Alec is a sadistic member of the Volturi guard and also one of its highest ranked. Jane is able to inflict a mental illusion of agonizing pain upon her target. Unlike Alec, Jane is only able to target one victim at a time.
Dakota Fanning was born on February 23 1994 in Georgia, USA. Dakota has had a long acting career already for someone so young and is well established on the silver screen. Her first big break came in the movie I Am Sam alongside Sean Penn and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Michael Sheen as Aro
Aro is regarded as the overall leader of the Volturi and possesses the power of tactile telepathy with which he can read the thoughts of a person with a single touch. His telepathy power is extremely powerful as he can hear every thought the person has ever had. However his gift is limited in that he requires physical touch to use his power and cannot read minds over a distance. Aro killed his own sister Didyme after she and Marcus fell in love and became discontented with Aro’s coven. Aro killed Didyme to prevent Marcus from leaving as he was integral to Aro’s plans of achieving domination in the vampire world.
Michael Sheen was born on February 5, 1969 in Wales, United Kingdom. Michael has appeared in many films and has been a prolific actor on the London stage. Some of his better known film roles have been in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans as Lucian and in Blood Diamond as Rupert Simmons.
Christopher Heyerdahl as Marcus
Marcus one of the Volturi leaders, is described as being very apathetic due to the loss of his mate Didyme, whom he never knew was killed by Aro. Marcus has the ability to recognize relationships. He can see ties that bind people together, not just romantic relationships, but also loyalty, devotion and friendship.
Christopher Heyerdahl is half Norwegian and was born in British Columbia, Canada. Christopher has had recurring roles both in Sanctuary as John Druitt and in Stargate: Atlantis as Todd the Wraith.
Charlie Bewley as Demetri
Demetri is said to be the best vampire tracker in the world. He is able to track people from all over the world unlike James who needed to be close to his victims to track them. Demetri’s ability to track people apparently works by him being able to tap into the tone of people’s thoughts and he is then drawn to it.
Charlie Bewley is a brand new actor to grace our screens, and is blessed with striking good looks. He is from London and since this is his first major film role details on his biography are scarce. However I am sure that once New Moon is released, details about Charlie Bewley will be appearing everywhere.
Jamie Campbell Bower as Caius
Caius is different among the Voltari in that he does not have any special powers. Caius was almost killed by a werewolf about 2000 years before Breaking Dawn and so has hunted werewolves almost to extinction.
Jamie Campbell Bower was born in 1988 in London. He plays the role of Gellert Grindelwald in the yet to be released Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Felix – Daniel Cudmore
Felix is another character to not have any special powers. It is assumed he is kept as a member of the Volturi guard for his immense strength.
Daniel Cudmore was born on20 January 1981 in Canada. He played the role of Colossus in both X-Men 2 and X-Men 3. He has also had many television roles including a role in Stargate.
Heidi – Noot Seear
Heidi’s role in the Volturi guard was to bring the vampires humans for food. She was known as a “fisher” and “bait”, due to both her stunning appearance and her provocative style of dressing which she uses to lure humans into the presence of the Volturi.
Noot Seear was born on October 5, 1983 in Vancouver, Canada. She is of Dutch descent and is a well-know model, having only recently pursued a career in acting. Noot Seear began modeling at the age of 14 and has graced the covers of many magazines including Elle Germany. Noot has also been the face of two fragrances, CK One by Calvin Klein and Vera Wang by Vera Wang.
