Toscana Italian Restaurant: Forney, Texas

Homemade Pasta

Toscana Italian Restaurant in Forney, Texas has become a favorite in the community. This is the place to go if you want to taste delicious northern Italian food. Toscana opened in March 2009.

Location:
Toscana Italian Restaurant is located at 104 E. Hwy. 80, suite 90 in Forney. It is in the shopping center area near Warezabouts and MySpa between the FM 548 and Pinson Road exits. If you need directions or want to call in an order to pick up, Toscana’s phone number is 972-552-3360.

Hours:
Though Toscana is closed on Mondays, they are open Tuesday-Thursday from 11 am to 9 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays they are open from 11 am to 10 pm. On Sunday they are open from 11 am to 9 pm. Their weekly lunch specials run Tues-Friday from 11 am to 3 pm and all the lunch specials come with side salad and bread.

Owner:
Owner Johnny Drazhi is also the head chef at Toscana. I had to meet him to let him know how much I enjoy his food and the friendly atmosphere at the restaurant. Drazhi’s family is a big part of his business and you can find his cousin managing the restaurant (and offering great family stories). Most of the wait staff is related to the owner, but that has turned out to be a good thing. Staffing was an issue when the restaurant first opened, but the service has now significantly improved.

Favorite thing about Toscana:
My favorite thing about the restaurant, besides the fact that the food is wonderful, is that everything is cooked made to order. When my friend asked if she could substitute chicken for shrimp, we were told, “We can make anything you want, even if it’s not on the menu.” How is that for excellent service!

The only thing I would change is that they do not have an alcohol permit, so they cannot sell any alcohol. However, according to Texas Alcohol laws, you can bring your own beer or wine to the restaurant and drink it with your lunch or dinner. On my last visit I brought a nice Pinot Noir and the waiter opened it and poured it for us. It was great with dinner and it cost less than ordering a bottle of wine at a restaurant that can sell wine.

Food:
My personal favorite at the Toscana is the Tortellini Alfredo. However, my mom loves their fresh baked pizza, and my friends enjoy the Veal Parmigian. Another favorite is the Chicken Marsala, which has mushrooms, marsala wine, and brown gravy over spaghetti. If you are a steak person, they offer a 16 oz. Rib-Eye and a 16 oz. New York Strip. There is also a good selection of seafood dishes as well as lamb and veal. Vegetarians have lots of choices of non-meaty dishes. Always ask what the Chef Special is because it is usually something delightful that they have been cooking all day. If you have room for dessert, you won’t be disappointed.

Prices:
Toscana is very affordable! The most expensive dish is the Steak a La Milano for $22.95. Most dishes range from $6.95 Homemade Pasta Entrees to $11.95 Veal Picatta. Side salad and bread come free with each entrée.

They have a Children’s Menu with food from $4.25 to $4.95.

I definitely give Toscana Italian Restaurant 2 thumbs up for food, service and prices. If you’re in Forney, stop in, grab a bite to eat and ask about the family stories from their days in Italy.
