Birthday Party Ideas for Small Dogs

Goody Bags, Small Dogs

When a birthday comes along, many families traditionally host a celebration. Some even host parties for their dogs. After all, a dog is a family member. The party can include doggy themed cupcakes for guests, bone cookies for dogs, gifts and even games. Small dogs are especially cute when they are all decked out in party hats, dresses and other flashy garb. Some people want to give their four legged family members the very best, and they would never think of overlooking their birthday.

I have a friend that always hosts a party for her two small dogs. She has two Shih-Tzu dogs named Buttons and Bows, and they are absolutely adorable. She invites friends and family members to the birthday party, and friendly house-trained dogs are also welcome to join the festivities. Dogs are happy going just about anywhere with their family, and they are all very excited to attend the yearly party. They love the goody bags, the attention and the food.

Make Easy Paw Print Cupcakes for the Birthday Party

My friend always serves the same cupcakes when celebrating a birthday party for her small dogs, but they are a huge hit. She makes cute paw print cupcakes using a mix and whipped canned frosting. She prepares vanilla cupcakes in large tins and paper liners embellished with doggy designs, and she tops them with thick white frosting. The paw prints are made from Rollo candies that have been sliced and molded to create small footprint pads and toes. They are adorable and delicious.

Serve Bone Cookies for the Dogs

When hosting a birthday for small dogs, give the doggies something to munch on while the human guests enjoy their cupcakes. Many pet stores offer small frosted bone-shaped cookies, and all of the dogs love them. They are a little pricey considering number she has to buy, but they are well worth it. They look delicious, and I have been tempted to try them myself!

Give Guests a Homemade Party Favor Jar

Instead of assembling paper party bags filled with favors for small dogs, my friend creates homemade party favor jars. She creates a different design each year, and I currently have four. My fur babies know where their treats come from, and they are decorative as well as handy. The article entitled Make a Cat or Dog Treat Jar provides easy instructions. I help her create the jars a few weeks before the annual birthday party, and we have a great time. We fill the jars with small treats and toys, and every person with a dog goes home with a jar. We design floral jars for the other guests, and they are just as eye catching and appealing.

Use these ideas to get the party started, and add some of your own. We also play games with the dogs and give them plenty of time outdoors. They all get along beautifully, and the human guests enjoy visiting and including their dogs. The birthday party for my friend’s two small dogs is something that I look forward to every year, and it is always a huge success.
